Lead Engineer

Role Summary/Purpose
The Lead Engineer – Product Support will lead the primary technology “rapid response” interface to operations and quality to solve technical issues in serial products, particularly regarding Requests for Information, Deviation Requests, disposition of Non-conformances, First Piece Qualification, and Engineering Changes.
Essential Responsibilities
Support the operations & quality functions with technical engineering support to include:
- Provide technical leadership to operations and the machining team, leading validation tests (DVP&R) for key engine components.
- Solve component/assembly issues by leading root cause analysis, defining both short-term and long-term corrective actions, and driving to resolution across multiple engineering and business functions.
- Create and review engineering change requests for product improvements and cost reductions, supporting related design and release activities.
- Participate in project technical design reviews for new product development projects, providing input regarding critical core components machined or assembled in-house, current product issues, and supplier capabilities to the project team, and support new product launch and engineering change implementation.
- Provide technical engineering support to other functional areas as required, including other engineering teams, manufacturing, purchasing, quality, service, contracted engineering consultants, and suppliers.
Qualifications/Requirements
- Bachelor’s in Mechanical Engineering, Engineering Technology, or Mechanical Design Technology from an accredited university or college.
- Minimum of 3 years’ experience in mechanical design and/or development experience, specifically in regard to machining and operations environments.
Desired Characteristics
- Minimum of 3 years of mechanical design and/or development experience with components and systems of reciprocating internal combustion engines and core components.
- Knowledge of GD&T and tolerance calculations in the development process.
- Knowledge of materials, manufacturing and assembly processes, and experience working with the associated functional organizations.
- Current product support and problem-solving design experience.
- Comfortable in an international environment and have strong oral and written communication skills.
- Organizational skills required to manage multiple projects and/or activities.
- Demonstrated proficiency in technical writing, oral communication, listening, and presentation skills.
Eligibility Requirements:
- Ability and willingness to travel up to 10%, including domestic and international if required.
