Salary range for the position is $106,026 to $152,413. Interior Health establishes salaries within the minimum and maximum of the salary range based on consideration of the qualifications, experience of the applicant, and an internal equity review of the salaries of other employees.

How will you make an impact?

The Manager, Psychological Health & Safety leads the operational implementation of strategic initiatives across Interior Health to improve the experience of providing care, particularly focusing on the resiliency, wellness, and psychological health and safety (PHS) of our workforce through implementation of the National Standard of Canada for Psychological Health and Safety in the Workplace (the Standard). The Manager provides consulting services to support the goals and objectives of senior leadership with interventions such as change initiatives, strategy planning facilitation, process re-design, team building, education and training, consulting and coaching, culture and respectful workplace development issues. This work is framed with Interior Health commitments to Indigenous cultural safety, anti-racism, and equity, diversity, and inclusion.

What will you work on?

• Leads and develops PHS projects and initiatives across Interior Health by linking in with internal partners such as senior executive and operational, program, professional, corporate, and support leaders to define project scope, develop project plans, implement projects, and evaluate results.

• Leads the implementation of the Standard at Interior Health, including implementation of the PHS Management System. Submits annual performance report to the Board, senior executive and the Ministry of Health.

• Acts as Interior Health’s representative for PHS at federal, provincial and regional meetings, committees and conferences, providing a local perspective on emerging issues and opportunities. Presents at conferences as appropriate.

• Provides consulting and support to clinical leaders and teams in the areas of PHS, workplace culture development, workforce resiliency and respectful workplace; keeps current of industry standards and best practice.

• Identifies critical barriers and issues impacting the organization’s resiliency and vitality requiring executive input and/or support and provides recommendations for addressing and resolving those barriers.

• Performs needs assessments, environmental scans and conducts research to identify viable projects and initiatives and present recommendations as required. Prepares business cases and discussion papers for consideration.

• Provides leadership, design and facilitation support as required to large leadership forums, organizational committees, planning groups and operational/implementation groups related to PHS or organizational culture.

• Manages designated staff by hiring staff, setting priorities, establishing and monitoring performance expectations, managing workload to meet operational requirements, disciplines and initiates employee terminations as necessary.

• Prepares and manages budget to reflect the ongoing needs of the portfolio; manages annual contracting with external team members.

• Liaises and partners with appropriate internal teams in the delivery of internal leadership development programs for leaders and ensures consistent best practice standards.

• Initiates and develops recommendations to support organization-wide strategic initiatives and development towards a work environment consistent with the Standard.

• In alignment with IH’s Occupational Health & Safety Program, maintain a healthy and safe work environment through complying with and implementing applicable Occupational Health and Safety Regulation, responding to requests from WSBC, identifying hazards and communicating risks, ensuring compliance with employee training, conducting effective incident investigations and implementing required corrective actions.

• Performs other related duties as required.

Qualfications Education, Training, and Experience • Master’s Degree in Social Sciences, Organization Development, Leadership, Adult Learning, Behavioural Science, or other equivalent education and training in a related discipline. • Seven to nine years’ recent related experience in an intermediate to large organization. • Preference will be given to candidates with work experience in healthcare settings and/or occupational health and safety education/experience. • Or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.

Skills and Abilities • Demonstrated excellence in knowledge and delivery of transformational organization development. • Demonstrated excellence in team development theory, practice and facilitation. • Demonstrated knowledge of organizational development theory, leadership development best practices and organizational development consulting principles, practices, and methodology. • Demonstrated expertise in client, team and systems needs assessment. • Demonstrated expertise in design and development of organization development interventions. • Demonstrated knowledge of PHS and psychosocial factors impacting personal well-being and organizational health, as outlined in the Standard.
