Senior Technical Engineer Level: Senior
Location: Brock Road, Pickering (hybrid, 2 days remote)

Provide specialist expertise in a specific technical area (e.g., computer modeling, thermal-hydraulic, Heat Sink etc.) required to sustain performance of assets and resolve non-standard design and technical problems related to processes, equipment or systems. Integrate testing and supplying services provided by external firms in support of developments and programs. Accountable for the provision of accurate, timely and effective technical assessments and recommendations for determining operating and maintenance strategies and work programs. Support Pickering refurb project in safety analysis and support Pickering operation in heat sink strategy in the remaining operating years. Work with junior engineers to mentor them to be mature and to be independent in heat sink.Analyze non-standard station technical problems, or problems requiring a level of expertise which stations do not possess. li>As assigned, provide technical verification of work carried out in the Department and related to the specialty areas, to supplement normal peer verification.Assist station staff by contributing to the resolution of design and technical problems and implementation of approved solutions. li>Develop, with appropriate direction from Manager or Technical Advisor, approved technical programs which maintain/improve the performance of major processes, equipment or systems, e.g., li>As assigned, provide direction and oversee specific phases of project design or technical elements of projects.Develop/update technical specifications and standards for equipment, systems and processes. li>Keep informed regarding station performance of specified equipment/systems/processes. Identify potential performance issues and recommend alternatives to deal with them.Attend, and represent Department, as directed, on various technical committees.Provide advice to station engineering staff to allow them to troubleshoot problems and/or better understand, sustain and improve performance of equipment/systems/processes.Recommend Nuclear technical programs, reflecting internal and external operating experience and industry technology trends, which maintain/improve the long-term performance of major processes, equipment or systems in the stations.

The candidate must have the following technical qualifications:More than 15 years’ experience in nuclear safety analysis in OPG, Bruce Power or similar nuclear stations.More than 10 years’ experience in heat sink analysis, preferably with station experience in or familiar with Pickering Nuclear Power Station.Proficiency in thermohydraulic analysis with more than ten years of experience.
