Opportunity Continuing full‑time (30 hrs/week) Learning Assistant position at RancheView School, located in the Town of Cochrane, beginning immediately. The role supports students from Grades K‑8, including Pre‑Kindergarten, by collaborating with teachers to adapt and implement programs for learners with complex needs. Responsibilities Provide assistance to students as identified in their individualized plans, including support for personal, medical, and safety needs. Implement and reinforce strategies outlined in the Personalized Learning Plan (PLP), Individualized Program Plans (IPP), Behaviour Support Plans (BSP), safety plans, and medical plans. Record observations and data on behavioral challenges to support positive behavior strategies. Participate in collaborative planning meetings for IPP’s or SSP’s as requested. Assist with preparation of individualized program materials under the direction of the classroom teacher or student support teacher. Promote student learning and independence; facilitate interactions between students with special needs and their peers. Maintain confidentiality and privacy of information related to students and personnel. Support routine personal care activities such as toileting, movement, hygiene, eating, drinking, and feeding. Assist in exercising, adaptive physical education, range‑of‑motion programs, and fine and gross motor skills development. Support students’ medical needs, including transfers, tube feeding, tracheotomy care, oxygen, catheterization, and administration of prescription medication. Education / Experience Educational Assistant Certificate or a certificate/diploma in a related field. Training in preventative/de‑escalating behaviour, or willingness to become certified. Minimum one (1) year experience working with students with challenging behaviour and applying positive behaviour supports (considered an asset). CPR/First Aid Certification or willingness to become certified (asset). An equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered. Knowledge and Skills Professional handling of complex and sensitive issues in a timely manner. Ability to carry out the plans and directions of teaching staff to assist students. Rapport‑building with students and staff. Adaptability to dynamic situations while managing high stress. Effective collaboration within team settings. Excellent multi‑tasking, prioritization, and problem‑solving skills. Working knowledge of child development. Strong written and verbal communication skills.
