Siemens Canada Limited is seeking a strategic and technically proficient professional to support procurement and estimating efforts for commercial building automation controls projects, with a focus on electrical systems. Reporting into the National Project Procurement Manager, this role blends strategic sourcing, supplier relationship management, cost control, and technical insight to support operational efficiency and quality performance playing a pivotal part in supporting large-scale infrastructure and projects by aiding in the development of a robust subcontractor network across Canada. Estimating & Technical Support: Analyze conceptual and/or detailed customer plans and specifications to provide accurate electrical installation cost estimates. Collaborate with engineering and sales teams to interpret project specifications and design documents. Maintain and update cost databases and estimation tools to reflect current market conditions in various regions across Canada. Strategic Procurement: Assist Project Procurement Managers to develop and execute procurement strategies. Identify, evaluate, and assist in onboarding subcontractors. Assist in negotiating contracts, evaluations of bids, pricing, and terms with suppliers and subcontractors to ensure optimal value and risk mitigation. Monitor supplier performance and ensure compliance with project requirements, timelines, and quality standards. The candidate tracks and documents his/her activities according to standards established by the Buildings Procurement Organization and reports the results of negotiations in designated online tools and participates in subcontractor evaluation processes. Subcontractor Development: Assist Project Procurement Managers in building long-term relationships with subcontractors to support project delivery. Assess subcontractor capabilities and capacity to ensure alignment with strategic goals. Assists in the prequalification processes and maintains a database of preferred partners. Assist in comprehension of Siemens scope of work documents. Provide estimation support including installation methods and best practices on Siemens material and devices. Provide estimation training with Siemens standards for controls installations for new and developing subcontractors. Cross-Functional Collaboration: Work closely with procurement, project managers, sales, design engineers, and finance team to align procurement and estimating activities with overall project strategy. Support bid preparation and proposal development for major projects with national and global operation centers. Provide feedback on internal project estimates. Provide insights and recommendations to senior leadership on procurement risks, opportunities, and market trends. Miscellaneous: Provide on-site electrical installation as well as estimation training to subcontractor within Canada (travel required). Compile additional project background information to support scope of work definition. Assist in scope clarifications with the electrical subcontractors to ensure appropriate understanding of the job to be performed/executed. Contributes to maintaining Siemens databases that include market labour and material cost factors and that shall permit a high level of estimate efficiency. Train internal team members (sales, operations, etc) current & future electrical installation labour and material trends. What you will need to succeed? Construction Management experience, bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, or related field. Experience installing and/or estimating in the electrical industry, including significant experience estimating labour and material for building automation, fire safety, or security system controls. The candidate must have a thorough knowledge of the Canadian Electrical Code (or CSA C22.1) and be familiar with provincial and Federal codes/requirements. Demonstrated understanding of cost drivers associated with electrical installation. Experience working with construction plans & specifications. Strong understanding of building automation systems, electrical controls, and construction processes. Excellent analytical and communication skills. Proficiency in estimating software and ERP systems (e.g., SAP, Procore, AutoCad, BlueBeam, BIM 360, Accubid). Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, matrixed environment. Strong computer skills are required, including MS Excel, PowerPoint, and Word. Bilingual (French/English) is an asset. Good data and financial analysis skills and capability in determining risk. Good verbal and written communication skills; ability to communicate effectively with internal and external contacts, including management. Cross functional/organizational team management and facilitation skills. Demonstrated understanding cost drivers associated to electrical installation. About Us.
