Graduate Technologist Trainee - Apparatus Testing (Reactive Electrical Equipment) BC Hydro – Surrey, British Columbia, Canada Base pay range: CA$69,700 / yr Job Location: Surrey, BC Employment type: Permanent Hours of work: Full-time (37.5 hrs/week) No. of positions: 1 What you’ll do The Apparatus Testing Graduate Technologist Trainee (GTT) program within the Equipment Testing and Commissioning Department is a four‑year training program. After successfully completing the program, the Trainee will independently perform a variety of Site Inspection Test Reports, including high‑voltage tests delegated for acceptance testing as per the Field Review process on a variety of MV/LV electrical substations and generating equipment throughout the province. The trainee will also perform oiling on HV/MV/LV reactive equipment throughout the province in all weather conditions. This field‑worker position requires more than 80 % of the work day in the field and up to 50 % of the time out of town. What you bring A diploma in Electrical Engineering Technology (Electrical Power option or equivalent preferred) from a recognized Canadian institution, or an equivalent International Electrical or Canadian Diploma/Degree with an electrical technologist accreditation through ASTTBC or C.E.T. Qualification for membership in the Applied Science Technologists and Technicians of British Columbia (ASTTBC) as an Electrical Technologist. Valid BC Driver’s License (Class 5). Travel is required; trainees may spend up to 50 % of their time out of town, including more than 50 nights per year.
