If you're aperson with a disability, please let us know by emailing , as adjustments can be made tohelp support you in your application process.Graduate Technologist Trainee - Apparatus Testing (Reactive Electrical Equipment)Number of positions: 1 Job Location: Surrey Trades Training CentreEmployment type: Permanent Region: Lower MainlandHours of work: Full-time (37.5 hrs/wk) Flexible Work Role: FieldAnnual salary: $ 69,700.00What you'll doThe Apparatus Testing Graduate Technologist Trainee (GTT) program within the Equipment Testing & Commissioningdepartment is a four (4) year training program.After successfully completing the program, the Trainee will independently perform a variety of Site Inspection Test Reportsincluding high-voltage tests delegated for the acceptance testing as per the Field review process on a variety of MV/LVElectrical Substation and Generating equipment throughout the province. The Equipment Testing & Commissioningdepartment conducts a variety of complex acceptance tests on new equipment and also provides specialized advice toother field staff, IBEW tradespeople and external clients on the application of various types of acceptance testing ofsubstation and generation equipment on and off the BC Hydro Power System. The trainee will also perform oiling on HV/MV/LV reactive equipment throughout the province in all weather conditions. This is a field worker position, and thesuccessful candidate will spend more than 80% of their typical work day in the field and up to 50% of their time out of townthroughout the year. Substantial overtime hours may be required.What you bringThe successful candidate must have the following qualifications and attributes:A diploma in Electrical Engineering Technology (Electrical Power option or equivalent is preferred) from a recognizedCanadian Educational Institute; ORInternational Electrical or Canadian Non-Electrical Diploma or Degree with an electrical Technologist accreditation througha provincial regulatory or governing body such as Applied Science Technologist (AScT.) through ASTTBC or CertifiedEngineering Technologist (C.E.T).Must qualify for membership in the Applied Science Technologists and Technicians of British Columbia (ASTTBC) as anElectrical Technologist.Must hold valid Driver's License (Regular, full license [BC's Class 5]).Must be eligible and able to work in Canada.What we offerA comprehensive benefits packageA minimum of 15 paid vacation daysA lifetime pensionFlexible work model, depending on your role typeTraining and development coursesFor more information on the benefits we offer, visit The starting salary for this position is currently $69,700 annually. The four year program includes annual salary increases,and upon successful completion the approximate salary will be $89,515 annually, not including any overtime.What else you should knowThis position is affiliated with the Movement of United Professionals union (MoveUP/COPE). FUTUREYou will be exposed to challenging assignments and be trained to the highest standards.
