Graduate Technologist Trainee – Apparatus Testing (Power/Electrical Equipment) BC Hydro, Surrey, British Columbia, Canada Base pay: CA$69,700.00/year. About the job This four‑year training program will prepare you to perform high‑voltage tests, maintenance, and failure investigations on power apparatus and equipment across the province. You will spend more than 80% of your time in the field and up to 50% traveling outside the Lower Mainland. What you’ll do As a Graduate Technologist Trainee (GTT), you will: Conduct complex high‑voltage tests on distribution, transmission, and generation equipment. Provide specialized advice to field staff, IBEW tradespeople, and external clients. Assist with acceptance, maintenance, and failure investigations of power apparatus. Perform field work at sites outside the Lower Mainland, often requiring travel and overtime. What you bring Diploma in Electrical Engineering Technology (Electrical Power option) or equivalent; International or Canadian non‑electrical diploma/degree with an applied science technologist accreditation is acceptable. Membership eligibility in Applied Science Technologists and Technicians of British Columbia (ASTTBC) as an Electrical Technologist. Valid Class 5 driver’s license (BC). Eligibility to work in Canada.
