We are actively seeking a qualified candidate for the role of Pre-Construction & Pursuit Manager. This position reports directly to the Vice President of Operations and requires a results-driven individual who is highly organized and capable of bringing multiple stakeholders together. The role includes leading teams of estimators in both Ottawa and Toronto, developing and executing win strategies, presenting estimates to Executive Management and clients, and managing project proposals. Responsibilities also include reading and interpreting project documents, soliciting subcontractors, analyzing drawings and specifications to assess risks, and managing third-party contractors as well as internal stakeholder teams for pursuits. Additional duties will involve preparing comprehensive cost estimates and proposals for a variety of project types.

Responsibilities:

  • Lead teams of estimators and internal stakeholders in pursuits within Ontario & Alberta regions.
  • Build internal team, task management, strategies, resource planning and levelling for estimates, proposals and qualifications documents.
  • Leading teams in multiple estimates, proposals and qualification documents.
  • Communicate and present detailed estimates, proposals and qualification documents to Executive Management ahead of submission.
  • Provides leadership and strategy in subcontractor and vendor selection process.
  • Manages the seamless transition from pre-construction award to construction operations takeover.
  • Transforms a proposal's vision into an engaging layout, leveraging captivating graphics, visuals to enhance communication, narrative coherence, relevance, and clarity.
  • Independently executes the layout and production of proposal materials, ensuring a professional and consistent brand style.
  • Conducts thorough client research to uncover insights, questions, and potential risks, informing strategic visioning and planning. Identifies interview needs and facilitates the preparation of presentation resources, collaborating seamlessly with the pursuit team.
  • Actively engages with relevant professional organizations to bolster the estimate and/or proposal position.
  • Conduct market research to identify potential customers and market trends.
  • Develop sales collateral and manage all branded materials for promotional activities.
  • Nurture leads and customer relationships through targeted marketing and sales efforts.
  • Cultivate and maintain strong client relationships.
  • Uphold and reinforce the company’s brand identity across all touchpoints ensuring brand consistency and integrity.
  • Stay informed about industry trends, emerging technologies, and best practices to drive innovation and maintain a competitive edge.
  • Manage post project & resource marketing content.

Skills:

  • Minimum of 3 years of progressive experience in proposal management, communications, marketing, or visual communications.
  • Minimum of 3 years in ICI and/or multi-residential construction.
  • Demonstrated expertise in project management, organization, and time management, with the ability to prioritize effectively. Excellent verbal, written, and visual communication skills, with a focus on producing grammatically correct content tailored to customer needs.
  • Thorough understanding of estimating and proposal fundamentals and best practices.
  • Ability to facilitate lean, high-quality pursuit processes and contribute effectively to strategy sessions.
  • Strong business acumen, including knowledge of construction industry practices and emerging trends in construction processes, delivery models, and contract types.
  • Proficiency in Adobe InDesign for layout design, as well as proficiency in Photoshop, Illustrator, PowerPoint to create visually compelling and brand-compliant content.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office, Adobe Creative Cloud, and other relevant marketing software systems.

Education: Bachelor's degree or diploma in business or technical engineering/construction or equivalent education or experience.
