Apply today to join our teamAs an Assistant Shift Engineer - Third Class you willWork under the direction of the Shift Engineer - Second Class to operate, repair and maintain a high pressure (600psig+), high temperature (750 F Superheat), primary combined cycle, parallel co-generation thermal Power Plant with currently installed capacity of 2890 boiler horsepower, as required by the Boiler and Pressure Vessel Safety Act and Regulations to produce steam and primary power; including the operations of boilers, feed water pumps, turbines, power distribution centres and related auxiliary equipment which changes as Plant operating and site strategies evolve, and currently includes600 psig Boilers150 psig Boilers1MW 4160 volt turbo-generators1000 psig feed water pumps(225 KW and 500 KW) diesel generators440V, 4160V and 12800V transformers and switchgear1600KW stand-by generatorsEducation & ExperienceGrade 12 plus three years' recent related experience in a second class industrial plant.Third (3rd) Class Power Engineer's Certificate of Competency.Knowledge & AbilitiesAbility to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing.Physical ability to carry out the duties of the position.Ability to deal with effectively with others.Ability to read and interpret single line drawings.Ability to organize work.Ability to operate related equipment.The hours of work including days off and work area may be subject to change consistent with operational requirements and the provision of the Collective Agreement and applicable statutes. Successful applicants may be required to complete a Criminal Records Review Check.As per Ministry of Health policy, all health care workers working in publicly-funded health care facilities are required to report their past receipt of certain vaccines or history of certain infections. Collecting these records will allow for offering of any missing vaccines, and for appropriate actions to be taken in the event of any future exposure to a communicable disease or during outbreaks.
