Human Resources Specialist - P/T Edmonton, AB

Part-time HUMAN RESOURCES SPECIALIST

The Human Resources Specialist is responsible for the successful coordination and delivery of all day-to-day Human Resources and employee programs providing advice, consulting and interpretation across all the areas of Human Resources.

Hours of Work:

Part-time, 3 Days per week; approx. 24 hours a week

Work Location:

In our Edmonton Office (11660 170 St NW, Edmonton, AB T5S 1J7)

Salary:

Commensurate with Experience

RESPONSIBILITIES
  1. Administers performance management processes, employee training and completes various management reports. Provides hands-on support in other HR areas, as required, including recruitment and exit interviews.
  2. Provides coaching and support in delivering HR services and programs to the organization. Recommends initiatives that support HR best practices.
  3. Collaborates with Service Canada on the LMIA application process, working with an outside agency for full cycle recruitment support.
  4. Develops HR policies, programs, and practices. Creates and maintains a process to ensure policies are circulated, communicated, and outdated policies/practices are revised.
  5. Seeks opportunities to continually enhance key HR Business Processes.
  6. Maintains knowledge of all employment related legislation and regulations for the province of Alberta and Saskatchewan.
  7. Provide guidance on compensation programs.
  8. Maintains contact and service relationships with third party providers.
  9. Administer Company Drug Testing Program.
  10. Benefits Administration (Equitable Life Insurance, Bank of Montreal RSP Program).
  11. WCB Claims Management.
  12. Maintain Company Service Award Program.
QUALIFICATIONS:

Experience and education:

  • 5+ years of Human Resources Experience
  • Bachelor's Degree in Human Resources or Related Discipline
  • Recent experience working with Service Canada, the LMIA process, and recruitment of foreign workers

Knowledge and skills:

  • High level of attention to detail and organization
  • Outstanding customer service skills
  • Ability to think critically and problem solve
  • Strong verbal and written English communication is required
  • Ability to work independently within a team is required
  • Seeking new ideas and finding efficiencies to improve is considered an asset
