We are currently expanding our Global Security Operations Command Center (GSOCC) and are looking for a dedicated GSOCC Monitoring Agent to join our Remote Operations team in Hamilton, Ontario. This position offers a unique opportunity to apply your skills in video surveillance, loss prevention, and alarm response in a cutting-edge command center environment.
Responsibilities:
- Monitor surveillance cameras and respond to alarm notifications in real-time within a GSOCC environment.
- Utilize investigative skills to detect and document suspicious activities such as theft, trespassing, fraud, property damage, and unauthorized entry.
- Follow established apprehension guidelines and procedures for managing security risks, leveraging your experience in loss prevention.
- Engage with two-way audio and video systems to deter criminal activity and unauthorized access.
- In case of an emergency, dispatch on-site security personnel, mobile patrol units, emergency services (police, fire, ambulance), and/or designated contacts (owners, property managers).
- Collaborate with law enforcement when necessary to report incidents or provide video evidence.
- Handle client communications via calls and emails, addressing on-site incidents, emergencies, and other security concerns.
- Prepare and maintain detailed electronic incident reports for both the company and police services as required.
- Perform routine system checks on monitoring equipment and software to ensure proper functionality, and report any abnormalities or concerns to management.
- Work with the Operations team to assess monitoring locations and prioritize critical surveillance cameras.
- Maintain accurate shift logs, reports, and activity records, ensuring timely submission of all necessary documentation.
- Apply conflict de-escalation techniques and maintain strong situational awareness when managing potential high-conflict situations.
Qualifications:
- Minimum of 1-2 years of experience in security, video surveillance, or loss prevention.
- Experience with theft detection, fraud investigation, and shoplifting apprehension is highly desirable.
- Thorough understanding of relevant laws, such as Section 494 of the Criminal Code of Canada and the Trespass to Property Act.
- Strong tactical communication and de-escalation skills.
- Proficient in using video monitoring systems, alarm systems, and reporting platforms.
- High level of personal integrity and professionalism, with a clean criminal record.
- Ability to multitask, prioritize, and make timely decisions based on established guidelines.
Education / Experience:
- Minimum 1-2 years of work experience in video surveillance and alarm monitoring.
- High School, College Diploma.
- Must have a valid Security License.
- Must have Loss prevention experience.
- Post secondary education in Criminology (or a similar field), or a suitable combination of education and experience is an asset.
