About the Club

Their primary objective is to promote and maintain an interest in the game of tennis within the community. Their mission is to create an environment that fosters maximum participation, skill development and enjoyment through social, casual and competitive tennis. The club has over 1000 members and is one of the largest community clubs in the region.

Job Description and Duties

A qualified candidate will start from the 2024 outdoor tennis season and will report to the Head Tennis professional beginning in May and ending in October. They will be an important part of the coaching team and must be able to follow instructions, work as part of a team, have an understanding of the progressive tennis curriculum, and adhere to the Quality Standards for Kid’s Tennis. The instructor can make a difference in the player, grow the sport at all stages of learning and be ready to play an important part in their development. This person has a tremendous passion for the game, shows a caring and positive attitude toward all students, encourages improvement, understands active participation and planning of lessons, the appropriate challenge for the group as a whole, and most importantly produces a fun environment to help support tennis for life.

The Tennis Professional’s main role will be within the junior program, overseeing the growth and daily needs of the juniors from clinics, and lessons, to teams. The role will be to coach within spring-fall junior programs which include daily after-school clinics, and summer camp half day 1- 4 pm, and may also include some adult evening/weekend adult/junior clinics. A fun and rewarding chance to help make a difference, grow tennis, and develop as a coach within Downtown/Central Toronto at one of the largest outdoor community clubs in the country

Requirements/Qualifications:

  • Current TPA Instructor certification minimum/working towards Club Professional 1
  • Experience working with young people(4-15 years old) as well as experience coaching adults private lessons/group clinics at least one season
  • Current First Aid/CPR preferred
  • Friendly, caring, outgoing, punctual, reliable, willingness to improve, and energetic

Pay for clinics is based on certification level and starts at an hourly rate in line with the Ontario living wage.
