Regional Division Head

Our hospital and community-based services are delivered by a team of 48,+ staff, medical staff and volunteers dedicated to serving our patients, families, and communities.
Eligibility- A member of the Active Staff
- Actively practicing in Laboratory Medicine, Division of Medical Biochemistry
- Leadership experience within the healthcare sector
As per Medical Staff Rules (Apr 24), the responsibilities of the Regional Division Head include (but are not limited to):
- Developing annual operating objectives for the Regional Division;
- Functioning as the channel of communication to and from the Regional Division to keep members informed regarding Division objectives, policies, and general activities;
- Developing, with the members of the Regional Division, standards of clinical practice and ensuring work within established standards;
- Maintaining familiarity with the applicable provincial privileging dictionary(s) and participating with the BC Medical Quality Initiative Office, if applicable;
- Recommending appropriate Clinical and Procedural Privileges, limitations, or applicable conditions for medical staff appointments and modifications;
- Encouraging and facilitating continuing medical education programs for Regional Department members;
- Arranging and chairing Regional Division meetings as required in these Rules;
- If applicable, working with universities to ensure that education programs and research activities are sufficiently promoted and supported;
- Promoting health and wellness amongst Members and encouraging a healthy, respectful workplace;
- Investigating and documenting complaints regarding care provided by Members;
- Reviewing human resource requirements of the Regional Division;
- Contributing to the search and selection of applicants for vacancies;
- Establishing a quality assurance/quality improvement structure and program for the Regional Department.
Additional responsibilities as outlined in organizational policies for Laboratory Medicine and Pathology Program in accordance with Diagnostic Accreditation Program standards.
