Summary:
Axis Family Resources Ltd. is hiring a Full Time Family Outreach Counsellor as a part of the Family Based Intervention Program, working with families and individuals within families. Service will prioritize providing family of origin/ systems work with adults around trauma resolution, disrupted attachment with children, and may include group work. Families involved will stabilize and gain practical and applicable skills for dealing with family crises and abusive or neglectful situations. Counsellors will develop, implement, and evaluate family-based intervention plans, participate in the development, implementation, and evaluation of service plans in conjunction with the integrated case management team. Building and maintaining healthy relationships with our Persons Served through a trauma-informed practice is the core of our work. Resiliency, empathy, patience, and the ability to set and maintain healthy boundaries are qualities of people who establish a meaningful career with Axis.

Qualifications & Requirements:
- A bachelor’s level degree in Social Work, Child & Youth Care, or other related Social Science.
- 1 – 2 years’ experience in social services.
- Education, training, or experience must reflect an ability to utilize a wide range of strategies to deal with issues such as child abuse/neglect, family violence, family-of-origin issues, anger management, communication problems, parenting problems, financial management challenges, mental or developmental challenges, intimacy, self-care, etc. (please outline type of experience in the ‘message to the employer’ section during the application process).
- Reliable transportation and a valid BC driver’s licence.
- Knowledge of and the ability to work with complex trauma, Autism, FASD, ODD or other neurobiological conditions is beneficial.
- Clear Criminal Record Check (agency conducted, expenses covered).
- Effective written and verbal communication.
