The team is responsible for developing and leading the Guardian brand and promoting its products and services across distribution channels and market segments. Simply put, we help Guardian and its subsidiaries and affiliates deliver the right message to the right audience, through brand strategy and execution. Reporting to the Senior Marketing Manager, the Marketing Web Developer will combine technical expertise with a deep understanding of digital marketing principles to create engaging and effective web experiences. This role will involve collaborating closely with the marketing and communications team, product marketing team, business entities, as well as IT and data teams to build and optimize websites that drive traffic, engagement and conversions.


ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

Strategy Development Web Development:

  • Work on multiple domains and websites for all business lines of the organization to support business needs
  • Analyze, debug and deliver clean, validated and maintainable code across all websites, as well as ensure integrity and quality control
  • Troubleshoot and resolve technical issues related to website functionality, performance, and security
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure consistency and alignment of brand messaging, design, and user experience across all websites
  • Develop and implement layouts/templates, mockups and enhancements to both test and production environments
  • Optimize website performance and user experience through monitoring and continuous improvement initiatives
  • Ensure projects are delivered on-time and to the highest possible standard while collaborating with internal project teams to understand the business and user requirements
  • Contribute to the development of coding standards, best practices and documentation to ensure code quality and maintainability
  • Recommend alternative solutions, raising project issues and risks, as well as quality controls
  • Actively seek out knowledge about new technologies and how they can be used to solve current and foreseeable challenges


Digital Marketing:

  • Integrate third-party marketing tools and platforms (e.g., analytics, CRM, marketing automation) to track and measure website performance
  • in the creation and optimization of landing pages and conversion funnels to maximize campaign performance
  • and analyze website traffic and user behavior to identify opportunities for optimization and improvement
  • Implement SEO best practices to ensure websites are optimized for search engine visibility and performance
  • keyword research and analysis to inform content strategy and website optimization efforts
  • in the development and execution of digital marketing campaigns across various channels, in accordance with CASL and digital privacy best practices (e.g., email, social media, paid advertising)
  • abreast of emerging digital marketing trends and technologies to propose innovative strategies and tactics


QUALIFICATIONS:

Education and experience:

  • Post-secondary education in Web Design, Development and/or Java
  • Proven experience as a web developer with a focus on marketing or digital projects
  • 4-6 years of experience in front-end website development
  • 3+ years of experience within the investment industry
  • Expertise in Java, PHP, HTML5, CSS3, JavaScript/jQuery, JSTL/SP, Responsive Design and Content Management Systems (Open CMS, Jahia, WordPress, Adobe Creative Cloud)
  • Expertise in working with Bootstrap and experience working with HTML templating languages
  • Familiarity with JavaScript-related and CSS-related browser cross-browser compatibility issues
  • Knowledge of Web Accessibility (WCAG 2.1, 508 Compliance)
  • Knowledge of UI/UX design principles and methodologies
  • Strong understanding of SEO principles and best practices
  • Expertise in web analytics tools (GA4) and conversion tracking, web integration tools (GTM) and marketing automation platforms (Mailchimp, Pardot)
  • Experience with GitHub, SQL, Salesforce and Marketing Cloud is considered an asset

  • Ability to collaborate and work closely with cross-functional teams, such as compliance and other business units
  • Positive “can-do” attitude and the ability to work amicably in a team
  • Highly motivated self-starter who works well with some autonomy and little direction but also understands when and how to appropriately involve others for support
