Our team in Canada is growing, we are currently recruiting for an Electrical Designer to join our Mining Team in the Burlington office.

About the role

· Responsible for drafting and 3D modelling electrical systems for mining and industrial projects.

· Experience working within an EPCM environment is preferred.

· Ability to work as part of a team, applying skills to both new construction and renovation projects for drafting of HV substations, overhead lines, MV & LV power distribution, lighting, grounding, access control and communication systems.

· Provide CAD drafting services to design team.

· Work under the direction of Electrical Engineers and Designers to develop working drawings from conceptual layout to detailed construction document packages for submission in AutoCAD.

· Ability to lead the preparation of drawings and utilization of CAD aided design software for the creation of electrical design of single line diagrams, motor schematics, wiring diagrams, general arrangement drawings, distribution panels schedules, grounding, lighting, and cable tray layouts.

· Ability to lead the preparation of drawings and utilization of CAD aided design software for the creation of Instrumentation and Controls design of loop drawings, PLC and DCS wiring, I/O panels and instruments layouts and instruments GA drawings.

· Ability to create and maintain cable schedules and material take offs.

· Provide support for plotting and sending of electronic file submission.

· Apply, maintain, and enforce CAD standards.

· Create, document, and communicate best practices for Building Information Modeling (BIM), AutoCAD and Revit applications.

· Ensure proper documentation of all work, products, and relevant activities.

· Other duties assigned as necessary.

About you:

· College diploma or equivalent

· 5- 8 years’ experience of drafting electrical, controls and instrumentation deliverables in an engineering environment

· Preference will be given to candidates with experience in electrical projects associated with buildings.

· Able to work within defined schedules and deadlines.

· Able to function well, either as part of a team or independently

· Strong communication, analytical and time management skills

· Ability to quickly absorb and use company-specific techniques, standards and procedures Microsoft Word and Excel skills.

· Working knowledge of the CEC and CSA Standards.

· Knowledge and / or experience of Smart plant software such as SP3D, SPI, SPEL will be an advantage.
