The affairs of the foundation are stewarded by a volunteer Board of Trustees charged with good governance, strategic direction, and a commitment to provide excellence in healthcare for our region.
Our professional philanthropy team’s role is to steward that commitment efficiently and effectively through fund development, capacity building and stewardship. As professionals we are committed to achieving and maintaining the highest standard of professional excellence within the charitable non-profit community through affiliation and professional development for all of our staff team members.
JOB OVERVIEW
The Philanthropy Engagement Officer/Major Gifts is a key member of the fund development team. They are responsible for the successful fund development goals of the Foundation’s philanthropic gift initiatives, corporate, foundation, organization, and individual gifts, campaign gifts, donor stewardship, and donor memorandums of understanding. This work includes working with the fund development and operations team to build tactical initiatives that ensure the Foundation is able to meet or exceed strategic initiatives and to increase capacity to enhance health and healthcare in our region.
GENERAL DESCRIPTION
The Philanthropy Engagement Officer/Major Gifts is a 1.0 FTE position approximately 40 hours per week. Schedule varies with foundation activities. Some evening, weekends and extended days are required. This individual contributes significantly to the long-term fund development success of the GPRHF and is a key tactician in fund development activities. They serve as GPRHF's primary contact with a wide array of constituents including but not limited to, staff team members, executive leadership team, corporate, foundation, organization, and individual donors. They are the key link between our donors and the foundation to provide excellence in health and healthcare through fund development and securing gifts. They are a key driver in the advancement and success of our campaigns and play a major role in achieving the fund development objectives of our strategic goal pillars. In addition to performing their regular duties and responsibilities the Philanthropy Engagement Officer/Major Gifts is a key ambassador to the region as a whole for the Foundation.
CORE RESPONSIBILITIES
- Develops and ensures that sound fund development tactics are applied to ensure that excellence in health and healthcare can be funded through philanthropic gifts.
- Ensures that the Donor Relations Management (DRM) system is properly used and updated daily with constituent information regarding donors, their gifts and stewardship activities.
- Ensures that all donor memorandums of understandings are completed accurately and in a timely manner.
- Ensures that excellence in donor stewardship is ongoing and completed in a timely manner.
- Coordinates with the Director of Operations to ensure that complete donor prospectuses are completed.
- Ensures that donor prospect lists are followed through on.
- Coordinates with the Director of Operations to build, provide and execute timely campaign development plans, fund development plans, and corresponding cases for support.
- Coordinates with the Director of Operations to complete monthly, quarterly, and annual reporting needs including the timely completion of CSI and KPI reporting.
- Works with the fund development and operations team in the development of plans, and tactics to maximize fund development objectives.
QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE
- Minimum 5 – 7 years working in a philanthropic role.
- Philanthropic donor or client services engagement an asset.
- Presently hold a CFRE designation or be willing to achieve within 3 years of being hired.
- Previous or current member of AHP and CAGP an asset.
- Previous experience managing a large donor or client portfolio.
- CAGP Original Canadian Planned Giving Certificate, experience with Planned Giving, or financial planning an asset but not required.
- Experience with DonorPerfect, CrowdChange, Azeus Convene, Microsoft Office an asset.
- Exceptional interpersonal skills to effectively steward a large constituent portfolio.
- The successful candidate should be highly organized, able to prioritize multiple projects effectively and work independently in a fast-paced environment; team player who works well in a multi cross-functional team.
Salary Range: $75,000.00 to $100,000.00 annually
