Primary Responsibilities

  1. Common HVAC maintenance duties including but not limited to:
    1. Check all bearings for proper operating temperature, sound level, etc.
    2. Lubricate fan bearings
    3. Check belts and sheaves. Replace/adjust as required
    4. Check and tighten all screws, bolts, nuts, and flare nuts
    5. Check motor mounts and vibration pads. Replace/adjust as required
    6. Check fan flexible duct connections. Replace/adjust as needed
    7. Check motor operating condition
    8. Inspect electrical connections and contactors
    9. Lubricate and adjust associated dampers and linkage
    10. Check all fans for quiet efficient operations
    11. Inspect for refrigerant leaks, repair as required
    12. Check vibration eliminators. Replace/adjust as required
    13. Check and clean fan assembly
    14. Operate, maintain and troubleshoot cooling systems (chillers, cooling towers, glycol)
      • Check coupling alignment. Adjust as required
      • Check compressor oil level, acid test and hermetic motors
      • Change oil and refrigerant filter dryers as required
      • Add refrigerant as necessary. Locate and repair leaks
      • Check and clean suction strainers
      • Check compressor crankcase heater operation
      • Inspect electrical connections, contractors, relays and operating safety controls
      • Check and operate compressor unloaders
      • Check operating conditions and adjust as required
      • Check all refrigerant pressure capillary and small bore tubing for vibration and rubbing/chafing. Repeat as required
      • Check all expansion valves for proper superheat
      • Review manufacturer’s recommendation for startup
    15. Schedule and manage contractors completing services and repairs
    16. Required to work plant shut downs
    17. Operate, maintain and troubleshoot heating systems (boilers, direct fired units, domestic hot water tanks)
    18. Replace belts and filters on all HVACs and exhaust fans
    19. Read and interpret blueprint

Refrigeration and Air Conditioning Mechanic 313A

Skilled trades certificates
G1 Gas Technician License
ODP Ozone Depletion Prevention certificate
Direct fire burner experience is preferred
5 years industrial experience is preferred
