Our role:
We are currently searching for a candidate who can drive strategic planning and execution of the Oncology Business Unit (OBU) projects and accountabilities for the OBU Medical organization which includes interface at an asset or indication level with the cross-functional teams across OBU. The role would include project oversight, budget management, medical planning support, cross-functional coordination and operational support to the Global Medical Team. This role would report directly to a Tumor Portfolio Leader within the Strategy, Operations & External Innovation Team in OBU Medical and would work closely with an Asset Medical Head/Senior Global Medical Leader (sGMAL) and their respective Teams. The position will be based in Warsaw and Mississauga Canada.
The ideal candidate will be expected to work in a highly effective way with other project and medical leaders to develop integrated plans which can be delivered globally and across cross-functional boundaries. The ideal candidates can demonstrate their critical thinking, problem solving skills, ability to work collaboratively and act decisively to support the broader goals of OBU Medical as a whole.
Accountabilities/responsibilities:
- Partners with the senior GMAL (Asset Medical Head) to progress from conceptualization to implementation on overarching asset strategies and optimizes global to local interfaces for delivery.
- Ensures efficient functioning of the Medical Implementation Team (MIT) and connectivity with Integrated Business Team (IBT) (enabling cross-functional collaboration with the asset / indication).
- Leads effective meeting management for an asset such as Medical Indication team meetings with clear agendas, concrete action items and tracking of results for on-target submission.
- Facilitates asset budget planning across the functional groups including forecasting, phasing and prioritization across the business planning cycle as well as rollup into Long Range Plans (LRPs).
- Responsible for strategic planning and prioritization of asset / indication team results such as development of Annual Medical Plans, Evidence Generation plans, Confidence/Evidence concept proposals, Launch & Congress plans, and Scientific Exchange plans.
- Drives External Engagement Planning and execution, including congress planning oversight and tactical execution.
- Drives review of externally sponsored proposals/grants for asset strategy alignment and funding decisions.
- Co-ordinates and assists senior GMAL in preparation of presentations and communications on key topics and initiatives.
- Continuously strives for improvement on ways of working to share best practices to streamline and simplify the business processes.
- Partners with the Tumor Portfolio Leader to help shape portfolio strategy; gathers and provides timely input from the asset team.
- Accountable for implementation of medical standards to ensure proper functioning of the organization.

Required experience:
- Proven experience in pharmaceutical industry.
- Minimum of 2 years experience in Medical Affairs, Commercial and R&D (Global, regional, or local).
- Understanding of the development and commercialisation of pharmaceutical products.
- Experience of successful influencing cross functionally, cross-culturally and cross-brands.
- Experience of effective working in a multi-cultural, matrixed environment.
- Experience working in a global setting, managing partners within different time zones.
- Experience preparing and/or delivering presentations to executive leadership.
- Experience in planning and leading critical initiatives.
Preferred Requirements:
- Graduate level degree in sciences or business degree.
- Six Sigma Medical/Process Excellence and/or Project Management/PMP/FPX certification is a plus but not required.
- Depth of understanding of medical, scientific and/or commercial pharmaceutical marketplace of Oncology.
Knowledge/Skills/Competencies:
- Skilled in process development and implementation, organizational effectiveness, and communication.
- Able to deliver high quality work outputs despite ambiguity or a constantly evolving environment.
- Delivery focus with an ability to be responsible for and manage multiple project results in very short timelines.
- Interpersonal skills with an ability to display a variety of leadership styles dependent upon the situation.
- Evidence of the ability to pull together diverse teams over whom they have no line management responsibility in a matrix environment (i.e. Ability to influence and drive for results).
- Demonstrated knowledge and very wide understanding of global business context.
