What you'll do

As a Senior Cloud Automation Team Lead your key area of responsibility will be steering a team in developing and sustaining robust Terraform modules and automation tools for efficient cloud infrastructure management. You will champion the maintenance of a cohesive platform for Kubernetes workloads, ensuring adherence to best practices in security and configuration management. You will work with a strategic mindset and a commitment to mentoring engineers and uphold high standards in automation that drive the company's cloud strategy forward.

How you'll make an impact

Direct and manage cloud automation projects; ensure the development and implementation of robust, scalable infrastructure as code with the assigned team that meets operational and business requirements.

Align to business goals and manage the team with regards to task assignments, work arrangements and other Cloud Automation Engineering Department expectations.

Ensure work progress stays on schedule and updates stakeholders on project status.

Install, manage, measure and change an Agile development process, e.g., SCRUM, Kanban.

Conduct comprehensive testing and code reviews to ensure that code quality is maximized and best-practices are followed.

Lead and participate in development of prototypes, minimum viable products and PoCs.

Appropriately document system design and architecture such that it is easy to understand, maintain and extend.

Conduct team meetings relating to communicating employee tasks and continuing expectations.

Provide expert leadership and guidance to the team as an SME.

Assist with the hiring process and new team member training as required.

Oversee the activities and performance of direct reports:

Provide direction, coaching and mentorship to the team.

Engage in the development of the team by coaching, providing feedback, identifying areas of growth and training opportunities.

Collaborate and support employees during the performance management process, meeting KPAs and career development planning.

Support Geotab global strategic initiatives.

What you'll bring to this role

Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Technology, Engineering, or related

5-8 years of DevOps or Software Development team tasked with building and maintaining infrastructure at scale on a public cloud provider

3 - 5 years of required supervisory experience managing a DevOps or Software Development team tasked with building and maintaining infrastructure at scale on a public cloud provider

High accuracy and meticulous attention to detail.

Strong analytical skills with the ability to problem-solve to well-judged decisions.

A strong team-player with the ability to engage with all levels of the organization.

Technical competence using software programs, including, but not limited to, Google Suite for business (Sheets, Docs, Slides).

Entrepreneurial mindset and comfortable in a flat organization.

Strong project management skills; able to identify needs, develop effective solutions, and manage projects through to completion

Possess a well-defined sense of diplomacy, including solid negotiation, conflict resolution, and relationship management skills.

Strategic mindset, has a keen sense of priorities, along with an ability to pivot as the landscape changes.
