Midtown Oakville is designated as the Town’s Urban Growth Centre and is being planned to be an urban community with a minimum population of over 20,000 people and jobs; where people are able to live, work, and play in walkable, mixed use neighbourhoods, connected to the rest of Oakville by pedestrian, cycling, transit and street networks. Midtown is a key location within the town, centred around Metrolinx’s busiest GO Station hub, second only to Union Station.
Reporting to the Commissioner, Community Development, the Manager, Midtown Oakville Program will provide professional advice to the town’s senior administration and Town Council for the long term implementation of the planning policy to the Midtown Oakville program. The Manager, Midtown Oakville Program will be responsible for developing policy papers and positions for Midtown Oakville.

**What can I expect to do in this role?**
As the Manager, Midtown Oakville Program you will:

- Provide leadership to a consulting team focused on implementing the planning, design and engineering direction to realize the build-out of Midtown Oakville.
- Supervise and co-ordinate the assignment and priority of work ensuring appropriate delivery, performance evaluation, fiscal responsibility and that community needs are achieved.
- Manage, create and co-ordinate a scope of policy work related to housing and housing affordability, and other planning related matters such as Community Planning Permit System, Inclusionary Zoning, Community Improvement Plans, and other items that address housing affordability.
- Coordinate the scope of work with other Town-wide projects such as the Town’s Housing Strategy.
- Provide policy and research support to the Commissioner of Community Development and Director of Planning Services for the Midtown project and how those initiatives may have applicability beyond Midtown to the other Strategic Growth Areas in Oakville.
- Oversee the preparation of terms of reference and hiring of consultants, if needed.
- Perform other duties and special projects as assigned.

**How do I qualify?**
You have an undergraduate degree from a recognized university with specialization in Urban Planning, or related discipline. Your formal education is augmented by at least eight years of progressively responsible positions that have resulted in outstanding leadership complemented by a highly developed understanding of municipal government and service delivery. Full PMP certification is an asset, as is membership in a professional organisation such as OPPI, and/or related professional designations.

In addition, your experience includes:

- Demonstrated proficiency in the review and interpretation of architectural, site, landscape, public realm, and streetscape plans;
- Proven ability to lead, coach, motivate, influence and build productive relationships;
- Strong project management and organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment;
- Knowledgeable in current and possible future policies, practices, trends, technology, and information;
- Seeing ahead clearly; can anticipate future consequences and trends accurately;
- Proven excellence in customer service and models service delivery excellence
- Communicating a compelling and inspired vision or sense of core purpose;
- Soliciting and listening to ideas and concerns of staff and other stakeholders;
- Managing relationships between stakeholders;
- Maneuvering through complex political situations effectively;

- Mobilizing staff and stakeholders to achieve goals;
- Identifying and communicating priorities, milestones, timelines, performance measures, and clear accountabilities;
