What does our Restructuring Advisoryteam do?
Our core Restructuring Advisory team workwith organisationsand their advisers, lenders, trustees and creditors toprevent, manageand address issues related to financial difficulty. This mayincludeadvice on how to develop an effective turnaround strategy. Wherethisis not possible, it may include realising value and optimising theoutcome of aformal insolvency. More specifically, this can comprise:
- Monitor emerging financial risks;
- Secure anappropriate funding solution;
- Manage risk by simplifyingcorporate structure;
- Review defined benefit pension covenantstrength;
- Preserve value on distressed real estate projects;
- Navigate an accelerated transaction where appropriate;
- In theevent of an insolvency procedure, assisting all stakeholders inunderstanding and navigating the process;
- Identifying andrealising assets for the benefit of an insolvent estate;
-Investigating the conduct of the company prior to insolvency;
-Assisting employees with claims and information relating to andarising from insolvency;
- Liaising with creditors, includingsecured, preferential and unsecured; and
- Identify and pursuepotential claims after contentious insolvency.
We have aspecialist RestructuringDelivery Team dedicated to increasingefficiency in delivering formalinsolvency work. This offers theopportunity to spend several months on eachstage of formalinsolvencies, therefore increasing confidence and experience ineachelement within a short time frame. This provides great exposure toallareas of this work in a structured manner.
Our SpecialInvestigations Restructuring Advisoryteam focus on contentiousinsolvency and fraud investigations with ademonstrated history ofrecovering assets from both the UK and overseas.
Ourmulti-disciplinary team deal withenforcement actions and local andinternational asset tracing, working withlegal advisers and forensicexperts to identify and recover assets and to bringclaims againstthose accountable for fraud, misfeasance, or breach of duty. Wedealwith cross-border issues, complex litigation and numerouscontentiousissues, as well as Liquidations and high-profilebankruptcies.

At RSM, you’ll be a key memberof ourteam from day one. You’ll get involved in client work veryquickly, initiallyworking as part of a larger team before taking onindividual responsibility forprojects. Once you’ve completed yourinitial professional qualifications, thecomplexity of your workloadwill increase, and you’ll have the opportunity totake on moreindividual responsibilities and get involved in morechallengingissues. Alongside hands-on experience, you’llbenefit fromon-the-job training from more senior members of the team andgainaccess to our internal training courses that will help you developin the role.With our support, you’ll become a true trusted adviser toyour clients in thefuture.
When you join this team, you’llfirstwork towards the CPI qualification (Certificate of Proficiency inInsolvency)followed by the ACA qualification with the Institute ofChartered Accountantsof England and Wales (ICAEW), or your CharteredAccountancy (CA) qualificationwith the Institute of CharteredAccountants of Scotland (ICAS) or withChartered Accountants Ireland(CAI).

Restructuring Advisory is atechnically demandingdiscipline, so we look for students who are quick tograsp newsubjects. It’s important to have an inquisitive mind and paycloseattention to detail. You’ll often need to review complexfinancial informationand report on any unusual transactions orpatterns which you spot, so you’llneed excellent written and verbalcommunication skills. Entry requirements

You will need:
112 UCAS points across 3 A Levels or anequivalentlevel 3 qualification, or 104 UCAS points across 4 ScottishHighers/AdvancedHighers or Irish Leaving Certificate (HigherLevel);
A predicted/obtained honours degree.
