What does our specialist corporatesimplification team do?
We work with large corporates and ownermanaged businesses and their advisers,lenders and other specialists towind-down companies. This could include advice on how to:
- Help corporate groups to rationalise their structures;
- Develop strategies for the orderly wind-down of solvent business operations;
- Provide a co-ordinated multi-disciplinary approach to mitigate risk for directors;
- Extract value from companies for shareholders and stakeholders.
Our corporate simplification team focuson solvent liquidations which includes simplifying corporate structures byhelping clients to reduce the number of companies in the group and assistingshareholders to realise the surplus assets in their company.
Our clients include large corporategroups and owner-managed businesses, including high net worth individuals. Weundertake & co-ordinate a due diligence process on the target companies,identify risk areas and work closely with our clients, other RSM specialists,external specialists and legal advisors to create and implement co-ordinatedstrategies to resolve any issues.
We deliver projects which enable ourclients to mitigate risk and wind-down companies in a professional manner.

At RSM, you’ll be a key member of ourteam from day one. You’ll get involved in client work very quickly, initiallyworking as part of a larger team before taking on individual responsibility forprojects. Once you’ve completed your initial professional qualifications, thecomplexity of your workload will increase, and you’ll have the opportunity totake on more individual responsibilities and get involved in more challenging issues.With us, you’ll have the space to grow and be challenged.
Alongside hands-on experience, you’llbenefit from on-the-job training from more senior members of the team and gainaccess to our internal training courses that will help you develop in the role.With our support, you’ll become a true trusted adviser to your clients in thefuture.
When you join this team, you’ll firstwork towards the CPI qualification (Certificate of Proficiency in Insolvency)followed by the ACA qualification with the Institute of Chartered Accountantsof England and Wales (ICAEW), or your Chartered Accountancy (CA) qualificationwith the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Scotland (ICAS) or withChartered Accountants Ireland (CAI).
What we look for
We’re on the lookout for enthusiasticself-starters who are always up for a challenge. Corporate simplification is atechnically demanding discipline which also requires practical problem-solvingskills, so we look for students who are quick to grasp new subjects. It’s importantto have an inquisitive mind and pay close attention to detail. You’ll oftenneed to review complex legal, financial and technical information; preparelegal documentation and work closely with our clients so you’ll need excellentwritten and verbal communication skills. We also need you to be proactive andorganised as you will be working to strict legal deadlines. Entry requirements
At RSM, we don't just look for good examresults. We think passion, personality and originality are just as important.
You will need:
112 UCAS points across 3 A Levels or anequivalent level 3 qualification, or 104 UCAS points across 4 ScottishHighers/Advanced Highers or Irish Leaving Certificate (Higher Level);
A predicted/obtained honours degree.
Please note, RSM does not acceptGeneral Studies, AS levels or the Extended Project Qualification (EPQ).
