Second Nature School, located at 36 Antares Drive, is a private elementary school that caters to neurodivergent children and youth by providing a flexible learning and clinic environment that is neuro-affirming, child-centred, and nature-focused. Here, we help to support children who may benefit from extra support and are a safe space for families who may not fit traditional educational environments. Our school is open from 9:
00 am to 3:
00 pm. Before and after school care is available to learners (8:
30 am - 5:
00 pm) and can be added to your hours, should you wish to participate.

Lead Instructor Therapist

Role and Responsibilities

As an Instructor Therapist, you will take on a crucial role in supporting our young learners.

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Implementing a safe, therapeutic, and stimulating learning environment to neurodivergent children ages 4-12.
  • Offering ongoing support and feedback to ensure the highest quality of therapeutic interventions.
  • Provide engaging invitations to play and explore within the classroom that centre around learner's interests and that weave in subjects including Language Arts, STEAM, Mathematics, Physical Education, Health Education, etc.
  • Provide mental health support to children during classroom hours.
  • Engage in therapeutic relationship building with children.
  • Participate in team meetings and trainings.
  • Collaborate with therapy professionals through regular assessments and feedback sessions.
  • Ensuring adherence to company policies and procedures
  • Overseeing and ensuring the center is well-kept, and tasks are completed efficiently by team members

Qualifications

  • Education in one of the following:
    Behavioural Science Technology Diploma, Autism Behavioural Science Certificate, Child & Youth Worker Diploma, Developmental Services Worker, Early Childhood Education Diploma or Degree, a degree in Psychology, Social Work, or a related field and/or experience.
  • Passion for learning alongside children.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
  • Passion for providing a safe space for children and youth of all ages and abilities
  • Ability to collaborate effectively with a diverse team
  • A love of children is a must
