The Associate Vice President (AVP) of Claims Shared Services is a visionary leader who brings innovation and analytical prowess to drive the advancement of our national claims quality management and operational controls programs. Collaborating with internal and external partners, the AVP, Claims Shared Services leads teams to ensure that quality management programs effectively increase efficiencies to deliver exceptional claims management and client experience. Navigating through complexity, the AVP ensures that operational controls programs effectively minimize risks and improve overall productivity, while providing insights on trends and opportunities to empower effective decision-making. Supporting operational excellence, the AVP, Claims Shared Services oversees National Claims Centre of Operations, which includes workforce management, recruiting, escalation management, facilities planning and administrative support.

How you will create impact:

  1. Leading the evolution of strategic plans and objectives with the national claims operations; ensuring claims quality management, controls and central operations support the delivery of objectives and enable complex decision making.
  2. Providing tactical senior level guidance for the National Risk Control Strategy within National Claims which controls, mitigates, and reduces risk related to operational, financial, non-financial, and regulatory risk, and align with enterprise risk and compliance.
  3. Assessing the opportunities for shared services and create a strategy and vision for these services in the National Claims operations, in collaboration with claims leaders.
  4. Overseeing the development and delivery of consolidated multi-disciplinary operational programs and services through establishing priorities, planning and monitoring these shared services for trends and opportunities to improve efficiencies.
  5. Fostering strong partnerships with claims leaders, vendors, business partners and other internal and external stakeholders to support in the achievement of business objectives and to effectively monitor and measure compliance results.
  6. Supporting human resources activities for direct reports including recruitment and retention, training, performance management, rewards and recognition.
  7. Leading and engaging your team to deliver strategic objectives through effective coaching and mentoring, identifying and developing emerging talent, and fostering an innovative, collaborative, and agile culture.

To join our team:

  1. You have 7 years+ of progressive related experience, including multiple years of experience contributing to the development, execution and monitoring of strategic initiatives.
  2. You have a post-secondary degree in Finance, Business, Risk Management, Legal, Insurance or a related field of study.
  3. Having completed or pursuing a CIP designation and/or related management or specialized studies is an asset.
  4. You have led or contributed to developing quality management and operational controls programs (regulatory and financial).
  5. You have the financial and analytical acumen to interpret financial forecasts, claims controls, measures, and audit reports.
  6. Having experience and/or working knowledge of the P&C claims, national claims operations, and the broader insurance industry landscape, regulatory and competitive is an asset.
  7. You have complex stakeholder management skills and are experienced in successfully developing, coordinating and leading initiatives across several functional areas in collaboration with senior leaders.
  8. You are an experienced leader of teams, well-skilled in leading teams to deliver and operate innovatively in an engaged environment.

  1. You will travel occasionally.
  2. As a leader, strict confidentiality is required with respect to sensitive matters and employees’ personal information.
  3. You will be subject to a Criminal Record and Consumer History background check as a condition of employment, in the event you are the successful candidate.
  4. Proficiency in English is essential to the main duties in this role, including servicing and communicating primarily with majority non-francophone clients, groups, teams. Drafting complex English documents and preparing daily reports for anglophone leaders. The essential non-French duties are not assignable to adjacent or other team members.
