Academic Part-time Position

We are looking for Part-time Faculty to teach in the Mechanical & Welding Engineering Technology programs at the School of Engineering & Technology in the Summer 2024 semester (July 2, 2024 to August 23, 2024).

Areas of instruction include:

  • Safety Circuits in Automation & Robotics
  • OHSA and Pre-Start Health & Safety, related to Automation & Robotics

Successful candidates will be required to conduct work within Ontario and must be available to work on campus as required. Conestoga offers classes Monday to Sunday from 8:00 a.m. – 10:00 p.m., both in-person and online.

Candidates must be able to teach 3-6 hours per week. For this position, courses are delivered in person at the Cambridge Fountain Street campus, located at 850 Fountain Street South Cambridge, ON N3H 0A8.

Responsibilities:
  • Ensure student awareness of course objectives, instructional approach, and evaluation systems
  • Carry out regularly scheduled instruction according to the format prescribed for the course, including as appropriate, classroom, computer-assisted lab lessons, teacher-led, and other instructional techniques
  • Evaluate student progress/achievement, assuming responsibility for the overall assessment of the student's work within the assigned course, and maintain records as required
  • Create and maintain a positive learning environment that supports the diversity of student’s cultures, educational backgrounds, and learning styles
  • Support students in the use of the Learning Management System (D2L), as well as maintaining course materials within this system
  • Collaborate and build relations with other program faculty
Qualifications:
  • Three-year Diploma/Degree or Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or related field
  • Previous adult or post-secondary level teaching experience is required; Experience teaching computer applications at this level is considered an asset
  • Experience with using the D2L Learning Management System (LMS) platform is preferred
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal, and problem-solving skills
  • Proven ability to contribute to and work in a positive team environment
  • Demonstrated ability to relate to learners and foster a positive learning environment among diverse student populations, including international students and students requiring accommodation
