Academic Part-time Position

Part-time faculty members are required to teach in the Welding and Robotics Technician program, at the School of Engineering & Technology in the Summer 2023 semester (May 7, 2023, to August 20, 2023).

Areas of instruction include:

- Robotic welding programming
- Robotic maintenance and troubleshooting
- Automated welding

**Responsibilities**:

- Ensure student awareness of course objectives, instructional approach, and evaluation systems
- Carry out regularly scheduled instruction according to the format prescribed for the course, including as appropriate, classroom, computer-assisted lab lessons, teacher-led, and other instructional techniques
- Evaluate student progress/achievement, assuming responsibility for the overall assessment of the students’ work within the assigned course, and maintain records as required
- Create and maintain a positive learning environment that supports the diversity of students’ cultures, educational backgrounds, and learning styles
- Support students in the use of the Learning Management System (D2L), as well as maintaining course materials within this system
- Collaborate and build relations with other program faculty

Qualifications:

- Two
- or three-year Diploma in Welding Engineering Technology
- Minimum five years of industry experience in two or more of the following areas:

- Robotic Welding procedure development and/or management of robotic welding operations
- Knowledge of industrial PLC programming
- Robotic Welding programming experience (variety of industry sectors is an asset)
- Robotic Systems Maintenance and troubleshooting
- Previous adult or post-secondary level teaching experience is an asset
- Knowledge and experience of computer systems (e.g. Microsoft Office Suite) and educational technologies (e.g. D2L) is preferred
- Excellent communication, interpersonal, and problem-solving skills
- Proven ability to contribute to and work in a positive team environment
- Demonstrated ability to relate to learners and foster a positive learning environment among diverse student populations, including international students and students requiring accommodation is an asset
