Are you excited by the opportunity to disrupt database systems, and make them fundamentally simpler to use and manage? The Distributed SQL team at AWS is reinventing transactional database technology, delivering innovative customer experiences in the areas of automated operations, global scale, query processing, and storage. We are building and operating large scale, distributed, fault tolerant data and transaction management solutions built natively for the cloud. Our team consists of industry leading innovators, with multitudes of patents and research publications in this space. We are a fun-loving team, that is passionate about ideating, designing, delivering and operating data services to delight customers with high performance and scalability.

We are looking for a Front-End Engineer who is passionate about building innovative web applications for transactional database users. Our mission is to make it easy for our users to setup, run, manage and monitor databases. If shaping the vision, design, roadmap and development of the web applications excites you, this role may be right for you.

The FEE is expected to have proficiency on Typescript or Javascript, React, Redux and has experience on writing UI tests (puppeteer, jest, mocha, webdriverio, etc.). Responsibilities also include development of plugins to integrate with other systems. It’s preferable if the FEE has basic knowledge on AWS services like CloudWatch and CloudFormation.

About the team

The Distributed SQL Console team works closely with the Product team, UX designers and with engineers that are building the database technology in an agile method. The team is highly ambitious to create user friendly intuitive interfaces optimized for performance in a highly collaborative environment. Career growth is given high importance and this team offers challenging projects that give opportunity for personal professional development.

Amazon’s culture of inclusion is reinforced within our 14 Leadership Principles, which remind team members to seek diverse perspectives, learn and be curious, and earn trust.

Work/Life Balance:

Our team puts a high value on work-life balance. It isn’t about how many hours you spend at home or at work; it’s about the flow you establish that brings energy to both parts of your life. We believe striking the right balance between your personal and professional life is critical to life-long happiness and fulfillment. We offer flexibility in working hours and encourage you to find your own balance between your work and personal lives.

Mentorship & Career Growth:

Our team is dedicated to supporting new members. We have a broad mix of experience levels and tenures, and we’re building an environment that celebrates knowledge sharing and mentorship. Our senior members enjoy one-on-one mentoring and thorough, but kind, code reviews. We care about your career growth and strive to assign projects based on what will help each team member develop into a better-rounded engineer and enable them to take on more complex tasks in the future.
