Lead Project Engineer

Job Title: Lead Project Engineer (Marine) On-Site/ Remote/ Hybrid: On-Site (International Travel Required) Location: Halifax, Nova Scotia Summary: This role works at the heart of the engineering department and leads a small team of engineers and designers. This department is responsible for the various engineering and planning tasks related to our projects, our vessels and their unique challenges. Additionally, this department provides support to internal cross-functional departments with respect to the planning and managing of resources for project requirements as well as engineering expertise. Core Competencies: Accountability and Dependability Analytical Thinking • Communication Decision Making and Judgment Planning and Organizing Teamwork Result and Quality Oriented Problem Solving Job Responsibilities: Lead a small team of engineers and designers including distributing tasks, setting priorities based on operational requirements, verifying work and ensuring resources required to meet deadlines are available; Interface with project team to understand project needs, and engineer solutions. Typically related to deck plans and sea fastening of equipment; Interface with vessel management team to understand needs and assist with vessel upgrades and modifications; Management of sub-contractors, mainly 3rd party fabrication, as well as vendors of project and vessel specific equipment; Manage, supervise and participate in engineering activities, including but not limited to, documentation, design, calculations, equipment sizing, installation procedures, procurement etc.; Assist the bid team with cost estimates; Investigates, validates and confirms vessel suitability for projects; Responsible for VOO selections and mobilizations, and act as PM when required; Participate in coordinating capital equipment purchases; Required Skills: University degree preferably in naval architecture or Marine Engineering or equivalent experience in a related field; Recent work history must include a minimum 5-10 years related marine vessel experience, having worked on large projects. Including dealing with subcontractors, suppliers etc.; An understanding of marine operations is considered an asset. Ability to lead teams and focus on objectives; Ability to draft, read and comprehend technical specifications; Ability to draft clear, complete and concise reporting documents; Excellent English communication skills required, both written and verbal; Strong organizational, time-management, analytical and decision-making skills; MS Office experience required; Project Management experience beneficial;Work Conditions: International travel required, valid passport required; Ability to attend and conduct presentations; Manual dexterity required to use desktop computer and peripherals
