Description

The Human Resources (HR) Director is responsible for the overall operations of the Human Resources across three distinct business groups. Oversees associated programs and functions in support of organization goals and objectives. The HR Director be responsible and actively involved in the overall functions of Human Resources, Recruitment, Staff Development and Health & Safety, to engage the organization in achieving its business and people objectives.

Duties/Responsibilities

  • Lead the implementation, monitoring, evaluation, and development of the company's HR strategies and procedures.
  • Identifying and addressing issues affecting the engagement and retention of employees.
  • Lead and mentor a multi-disciplinary Human Resources team.
  • Recommend new policies and procedures to effect company improvements and organizational efficiencies.
  • Including succession planning, retention strategies, current and future challenge resolution, and recognition
  • Ensure that all relevant policies, procedures, practices, processes, and systems meet organization and comply with applicable legislation (Federal, Provincial/Municipal) as well as standards, laws and Collective Agreements.
  • Engage, actively participate and lead executive team with HR matters, concerns and collaborative resolution practices.
  • Advise senior management, Station Managers, and employees on all HR matters, including HR policies and training programs.
  • Actively provide support and guidance to management team when dealing with complex employee/labour relation issues
  • Work in conjunction with council to represent the organization in litigation, grievances, and complaints.
  • Collaboratively contribute to development of leadership through focused development strategies including talent and performance management
  • Travel to stations to provide Employee Relation support to managers through full HR employee activities as needed or as directed.

Required Qualifications

  • Combined minimum experience of 7 years direct experience as an HR Manager or more senior role, with generalist experience in a multi-disciplined environment.
  • Experience in the Oil & Gas industry preferred.
  • Strong knowledge of current employment law matters (Federal and Provincial) and managing with a collective agreement
  • Minimum 3-5 years of labour relations experience, including grievances, arbitration, and negotiation experience.
  • Experienced in effective mentoring and leadership of a multi-disciplinary HR group.
  • HRIS implementation and change management experience.
  • Effective collaborative communication with individuals at all levels of the organization
  • Superb communication skills (verbal and written)
  • High level of critical and logical thinking, analysis, and/or reasoning to identify underlying principles, reasons, or facts.

 Required Certifications & Training

  • Bachelor's degree or certificate in HR field required
  • CPHR designation preferred
  • Valid unrestricted driver’s license is required
