The Work

This role is responsible for collaborating directly with the Digital Bank people and talent programs as well as consulting on key initiatives and organizational changes across the Digital Bank. The position reports to the Senior Director, Business Partners and aligns to the Personal Banking business.

You will partner closely with business leaders to build and maintain a thorough understanding of the departmental strategy to inform what people and talent initiatives, role definition and organizational structure are necessary to drive business success. You work with the business to develop talent requirements or initiatives to support and evolve the function’s operating model, talent and culture. You understand and deliver on all HR cycles and business initiatives while supporting the leadership teams of the Corporate Functions to deliver an exceptional employee experience.

The role works closely with people managers across the function to attract, develop and retain a high performing team within a high-care, community-oriented and purpose-driven environment that “drives change in Canadian banking to enrich people’s lives.”

Core Parts of Your Role Would Be To:

  1. Partner, advise and coach leaders to diagnose, consult and problem solve on organizational structure, role definition, talent situations and challenges to maximize the effectiveness of their teams to be able to deliver on business outcomes
  2. Drive HR programs and talent initiatives forward while ensuring alignment with business needs and objectives
  3. Work with the Centre of Excellence to support talent programs, training needs, employee development and career advancement
  4. Design and implement talent initiatives to achieve business outcomes and optimize the employee experience
  5. Lead development and execution of People strategies to ensure we are fostering a diverse, inclusive and respectful environment
  6. Project-manage organizational change and talent programs and initiatives within Personal Banking, including organizational effectiveness
  7. Identify and validate talent gaps in the business through data and root cause analysis to build business cases demonstrating costs and ROI’s of talent recommendations
  8. Provide proactive advice using data, insights, and analytics to inform business and talent decision making
  9. Work with the functions on Organization design, role definition and team structures
  10. Create and execute change management plans to socialize, educate on HR initiatives, policies and procedures for employees and managers in collaboration with Business partners
  11. Respond to manager inquiries on a day-to-day basis by understanding the context of the situation, advising as necessary, and coaching managers to sustain change
  12. Work with the HR Operations team to resolve complex employee relations issues and escalate issues as needed to ensure a positive work environment
  13. Lead and manage the annual talent cycles (Performance, Talent Review, Compensation, etc.) for your client group
  14. Build knowledge of HR and industry trends to advance employee capability, develop and attract talent for the future
  15. Be a SME and a trusted advisor for client groups on HR and talent policies, cycles and initiatives
Let's Talk About You

  1. Undergraduate degree
  2. 3-5 years of experience working with a client group within a BP role
  3. 8+ years of progressive work experience in HR or talent acquisition
  4. Proven ability to work in a fast-paced environment with deep HR experience
  5. Strategic thinker with analytical skills and a goal-oriented approach
  6. Exceptional interpersonal skills, ability to handle sensitive matters
  7. Experience within one or more of the following: tech, banking, and/or fintech
Competencies:

  1. Understanding of business to build viable and practical solutions
  2. Confidence interacting with senior leaders and managers, and when needed, being comfortable challenging their thinking
  3. Strong communication skills and ability to engage with managers and leaders on people strategy
  4. Organizational structures and design experience

  6. Broad understanding of all HR disciplines and HR program practices and connection to outcomes
  7. Strong consulting, critical thinking and analytical capabilities
  8. Ability to lead a program with multiple projects and complex deliverables
  9. Confidence in communicating, influencing and coaching employees and people leaders
  10. Strong systems thinking and the ability to identify solutions and associated impacts
  11. Strong impact and influence skills, with the ability to flex to different communication styles
  12. Demonstrated ability to execute quickly, effectively and consistently
  13. Superior collaborative working abilities and experience
  14. Action oriented, with the ability to manage and drive through ambiguity as needed
  15. Curious mindset on use of technology and data to advance the HR function and employee experience
  16. Experience with transformation, project management, agile methodology and change management would be an asset
