Situated in northeastern Alberta, 2.5 hours from Edmonton, the M.D. is a thriving and economically diverse region, home to more than 13,000 residents. With a strong foundation in agriculture and oil-related industries, the M.D. offers both economic growth and an exceptional quality of life in a region known for its natural beauty and outdoor recreational opportunities.
The Role:

Reporting directly to the Reeve and Council, you will manage and coordinate municipal operations, ensuring that the M.D.'s strategic goals and daily functions are effectively implemented.
This role offers a unique opportunity for a forward-thinking leader to influence the growth and sustainability of the M.D., fostering innovation and collaboration across departments and with external stakeholders. You will lead a collaborative team dedicated to delivering exceptional services, ensuring the MD of Bonnyville remains a desirable place to live and work.
Key Responsibilities:

- Collaborate with staff, and community stakeholders to foster a unified approach to municipal governance.
- Council liaison providing professional advice and support.
- Oversee financial management, including budgeting, financial planning, and fiscal responsibility.
- Ensure compliance with the Alberta Municipal Government Act (MGA) and other relevant legislation.
- Drive organizational development, staff engagement, and the implementation of strategic initiatives.
Qualifications:
The ideal candidate will bring significant senior leadership experience in a complex, multi-dimensional service organization, ideally within a municipal or public sector setting. You will also possess:
- A post-secondary degree in Business Management, Public Administration, Land Use Planning, Engineering, or a related field.
- Local Authority Administration Level I and Level II training (preferred).
- A deep understanding of financial processes, budgeting, and municipal governance.
- Strong leadership skills with the ability to build collaborative relationships with elected officials, staff, industry partners, and the public.
- Proven experience in strategic planning, organizational development, and team building.
- Extensive knowledge of the Alberta Municipal Government Act (MGA) and related legislation.
- Familiarity with relevant technology to streamline municipal operations.
The M.D. of Bonnyville offers a unique opportunity to lead a forward-thinking municipality in a region that combines natural beauty with economic vitality. Whether you are a local candidate looking for your next leadership challenge or are considering relocating to take advantage of the M.D.'s prosperous industries, affordable living, and outdoor lifestyle, this is an opportunity you don’t want to miss.
In addition to leading an impactful municipality, Bonnyville offers a welcoming community with excellent recreational opportunities, affordable living, and a balanced lifestyle—a perfect location for leaders who value both professional challenges and personal quality of life.
Compensation:
