Job Title: Shop Manager

Location: Grande Prairie, AB

Salary: up to $130,000 to $150,000

The Shop Manager will oversee the daily maintenance operations and management of the Source Energy Services Grande Prairie maintenance shop. They will be responsible for supervising and coordinating the activities of shop personnel, securing resources (parts/contractors/etc.) for all maintenance tasks, and ensuring that work is completed safely and according to established standards. This is a challenging position with an emphasis on efficient and effective workflow through a busy shop, sharing maintenance tasks for Sahara field equipment and on highway tractors and trailers.

What You’ll Be Doing:

  • Overall responsibility for all day-to-day operations through the shop/yard
  • Manage and lead a team of shop mechanics and field technicians in the maintenance and repair of heavy-duty trucks, trailers, and specialized oilfield equipment.
  • Organize the shop and implement strategies to optimize an efficient workflow.
  • Organize and schedule personnel/contractors/resources necessary for current and immediately upcoming maintenance tasks
  • Execute all maintenance processes and help integrate improvements where appropriate
  • Utilize CMMS software to proactively manage maintenance tasks, inventory, certifications and equipment history.
  • Act as a link between field and shop/maintenance. Diagnose over the phone and determine necessary parts/service required from limited information.
  • Direct shop hands and provide guidance on daily tasks and minor repairs
  • Occasional on-call
  • Assist as required

Who We’re Looking For:

  • Extensive experience (typically 5+ years) in a similar role within a mechanical or industrial environment
  • Strong leadership and supervisory skills, with the ability to motivate and guide a diverse team
  • Excellent knowledge of shop operations, repair procedures, and industry best practices
  • Strong organizational and problem-solving abilities
  • Attention to detail and commitment to quality workmanship. Additional experience in oilfield, sand or industrial work is an asset
  • Self-starter with the ability to proactively manage workload
  • Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written
  • Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists
  • Strong working knowledge of Microsoft Office suite
  • Must be able to meet deadlines and successfully handle time pressures and stress
  • Ability to hold valid tickets including: First Aid, Fall Arrest, WHMIS, TDG
  • Ability to travel to oil and gas completions work sites and support business units

We are looking for individuals with a hardworking attitude, who have working knowledge of tools and mechanics. Individuals must be self-motivated and adaptable to change. Other things that will help you succeed in this role include:

  • A mechanical aptitude and willingness to learn
  • Exceptional interpersonal skills with the ability to work with different personalities
  • Troubleshooting ability with multiple disciplines (hydraulics, electrical, mechanical, etc.)
  • Previous experience with on-highway truck/trailer equipment
  • Working knowledge of electrical control and power circuits (120V/480V power, 24V control)
  • Able to pass pre-employment drug, alcohol and fit suitability testing

Nice to Have:

  • Previous frac experience is preferred
  • First Aid & H2S certifications are not required but are considered an asset
  • Previous exposure to oilfield equipment and maintenance
  • Exposure to automation or PLC controlled components
