Senior Mechanical Designer

Job Description SummaryHelp us continue to grow our healthcare market presence across western Canada. Work collaboratively with a diverse team of individuals to develop innovative and sustainable energy systems and high-performance buildings. Within a dynamic design team, the Senior Mechanical Designer plays a fundamental role in leading the team to design, engineer, and produce heating, cooling, plumbing, and low-carbon energy systems for different building types and applications, with a targeted focus on healthcare. The Senior Designer performs tasks and delivers projects under the guidance of, and per the instructions provided by, the project manager and/or Principal-in-Charge, including but not limited to performing engineering calculations, modelling, coordinating with the design team, equipment suppliers, constructors, and clients, and delegating design work to Junior Design Staff to put together design packages to submit to the client. Knowledge Able to read Architectural, Structural, Mechanical and Electrical drawings with minimal supervision. Able to apply prescriptive requirements of plumbing, building, and sprinkler codes. Experience with schematic design, equipment selection, and REVIT. Knowledge and experience of global sustainability issues and current best practices in sustainable building design. Knowledge of sustainability frameworks, such as Passive House, Zero Carbon Building, LEED. Experience performing accurate and detailed site surveys. Demonstrated ability to adapt to changing priorities and respond systematically to critical situations. Client Focus Collaboration Innovation Integrity Sustainability Qualifications and Experience 5+ years design experience in HVAC, Plumbing, and Fire Protection systems with a focus on healthcare. University degree, college/technology diploma in Mechanical Engineering. Professional Engineer (P.Eng.), Applied Science Technologist (A.Sc.T.) are highly preferred. LEED® or Passive House Accreditation is an asset. Key Performance Indicators (What would you look for in someone’s performance to indicate they are performing at a level for this role?) Able to contribute to workload planning of design team.
