What you’ll do
Drive the project intake process at the strategic project level and advise business owners on the development of business cases or project charters as required for review and approval by the executive team.
Run and manage the project prioritization process and propose sequencing based on priorities and the capacity of the organization.
Make recommendations to the executive team on intake and prioritization decisions.
Check for resource conflicts and assess further prioritization needs.
Interface with all project managers to obtain standardized project progress reports and provide regular reporting to the executive team on project progress.
Monitor execution for strategic projects and advise the executive leadership team to enable successful execution.
Escalate project-related major risks impacting benefits, timelines, quality, or budget.
Gather ongoing feedback from business units and contributors to inform strategies and directions going forward.
What you need to succeed
Experience
~ A minimum of 7-10 years of professional experience in a combination of project and operational roles, including leading teams.
~7+ years managing multiple projects with large teams,
~ 1-million-dollar project budgets, and multiple interested parties at an executive level.
~3+ years of experience working as a portfolio manager, particularly in the areas of BT projects and digital transformation.
~3+ years of experience working on execution of strategy or strategic initiatives.
~ Experience developing teams, mentoring, and coaching other project managers.

Technical Skills
Knowledge of Project and Portfolio Concepts
Possesses expert level knowledge of a wide range of methods and approaches to project management and portfolio management.
Strategic perspective on portfolio management with knowledge of strategy and strategy execution.
Decision Making/Accountability
Makes decisions impacting a range of projects that will generally have notable impact elsewhere in the organization.
Information may be incomplete, and the Senior Portfolio Manager must draw on extensive experience to exercise sound judgment.
Analytical and Problem-Solving Skills
Uses seasoned experience and knowledge to analyze highly complex problems, interpret business needs, and develop integrated, innovative solutions.
Often requires deeper investigation of conflicting information and novel thinking to establish solutions.
Business Acumen
Applies seasoned expertise of risk management to oversee the identification, monitoring, and mitigation of substantial risks, with implications beyond the project.
Applies advanced knowledge of financial literacy and budget management to manage substantial project budget(s).

Displays an ability to influence and negotiate effectively, based on facts, logic, trust, and a strong understanding of the interests and opinions of others.
Ability to mentor and coach staff for high performance while acting with transparency, promoting a problem-solving mindset and collaborative culture.
Ability to facilitate meetings and discussions and effectively navigate potential conflicts and disagreements; lead and/or collaborate effectively with multidisciplinary teams.
Teamwork and Communication
Displays empathy and has the advanced soft skills required to lead and motivate others to achieve the project deliverables, where priorities and expectations may be in conflict at times.
Uses advanced negotiating skills to break down barriers and achieve deliverables.
Uses expert verbal and written communications skills in English to prepare business cases, reports, and communications.
Education
A Degree in Business, Engineering, Science, IT, or another analytical field.
Certification in PMP, Agile, Prince2, Lean Six Sigma Green or Black Belt would be considered an asset.
Language
~ Advanced oral and written skills in English are required, with oral and written skills in French considered an asset.
