About the Sales Development Leader role
We’re looking for an exceptional Sales leader who can confidently lead our XDR organization through Float's next phase of growth. This person will be a strong and creative leader who loves experimentation, and is driven and passionate about growing high performing SDR + BDR teams. They will report into Float's Head of Revenue, and will work closely with our entire leadership team to execute cross-functionally and drive growth and efficiency across their team. This is a career-defining opportunity to reshape a critical component of our GTM function, and greatly impact the future of Float.
As a Senior Sales Development Leader you will:
- Scale a high-performing team of BDRs and SDRs by recruiting, hiring, onboarding, and training new team members.
- Play a critical role in Float achieving our pipeline and revenue targets.
- Contribute to long-term outbound strategy as the corporate card and spend management market evolves in Canada.
- Engineer and manage performance of BDR KPIs (activity, meetings booked, conversion rate etc).
- Collaborate cross-functionally to maximize value from demand generation efforts including events, referral programs, partnerships alongside the SDR team.
- Identify and make recommendations for improvement in the areas of process, efficiency and productivity.
- Craft and test new approaches for messaging, talk tracks, and qualification of XDR deals.
- Train, enable, and upskill the team across all core XDR competencies.
You’ll be great in this role if:
- You’ve got the experience. To be successful in this role, we’re looking for 6+ years of tech sales experience and at least 4 years of people management experience, ideally in a high-growth start-up environment.
- You’ve been a BDR at a high-growth Canadian Fintech or SaaS company.
- You have experience implementing and refining sales methodologies to enhance the sales motion.
- You’re a coach. You lead with empathy and honesty. You have previous experience leading highly successful and driven sales teams, with proven success of reaching and exceeding revenue targets.
- You have a strong forecast methodology and are someone who prides themselves in delivering consistent, predictable results.
- You own your team’s results and have a proven track record of success driving revenue growth and impacting customer acquisition.
- You have managerial courage. You don’t shy away from difficult conversations, and are comfortable with both providing and receiving candid feedback.
- You believe the customer comes first. You’ll advocate endlessly for our customers, and have a natural curiosity to understand their needs.
- You’re a clear communicator. You demonstrate the ability to communicate, present and influence credibly and effectively at all levels of the organization.
This role won’t be a fit if:
- You do not like to work asynchronously.
- You are not a self-starter and do not like to work independently.
- You aren’t obsessed with your craft.
- You don’t like ambiguity.
- You don’t like regular feedback on your work.
- You aren’t super passionate about helping Float build the best corporate card and spend management platform in Canada.

- You prefer stability over change.
- You aren’t comfortable prioritizing your own to-do list.
- You don’t like to work remotely or asynchronously.
- You don’t have a very strong work ethic.
- You aren't a team player.
- You aren’t resilient.
- You have an ego.
Don’t meet every single requirement? If you’re excited about this role, and you strongly align with our values but your past experience doesn’t align perfectly, we encourage you to apply anyway. You may be the right candidate for this, or other future positions.
...and Perks of working at Float:
- Competitive compensation & total rewards.
- Flexible work hours and time off when you need to recharge.
- Small team = lots of autonomy to make impactful decisions.
