The incumbent will play a pivotal role in shaping the next generation of skilled professionals in the manufacturing industry.

Responsibilities:
  1. Implements a range of delivery strategies that complement the varied learning styles represented in a post-secondary classroom and encourages a cooperative learning climate, incorporating evidence-based practice and best practice guidelines.
  2. Develops and implements course learning outcomes and assessment strategies, ensuring that they reflect program goals.
  3. Delivers engaging lessons by helping design hands-on, multi-sensory learning activities.
  4. Defines, evaluates, and validates learning outcomes for courses and programs, ensuring that students are aware of relevant learning outcomes, strategies, and assessment techniques.
  5. Participates in the scholarship of teaching and learning and contributes to the body of knowledge of the profession through ongoing research, dissemination, and pursuit of funding to support such work.
  6. Supports student progress in assigned courses through individual tutorial and academic counseling.
  7. Engages in ongoing faculty development opportunities and effectively liaises with colleagues and other College and community and industry partners to maintain a collaborative and relevant learning environment.
  8. Contributes to program development by participating in the Provincial Program Review and National Accreditation processes and maintenance of the program accountability portfolio.
  9. Assists in program awareness and program recruitment activities.
  10. Assists with the creation and supervision of student field placements as assigned.
  11. Incorporates appropriate technological tools that support the learning environment.
Minimum Requirements:
  1. A relevant combination of education and experience normally acquired through Industrial (433A) or Construction Millwrights (426A) apprenticeship training, with 5 years’ recent, relevant, and progressive industry experience. A Mechanical Engineering degree, Mechanical/Manufacturing Engineering Technician/Technology may be considered depending on Industry Experience.
  2. CWB certifications would be an asset.
  3. 5 years of recent and relevant post-secondary teaching experience would be an asset.
  4. Knowledge of current programming within the School of Applied Science, Skills and Technology as well as potential programs based on industry demand, community engagement, and global market forecasts.
  5. Demonstrated ability to cross-collaborate across various program disciplines.
  6. An ability to apply an understanding of diversity and inclusiveness to meet the needs of a diverse student population.
  7. A demonstrated ability to develop and deliver innovative and engaging learning activities.
  8. A demonstrated understanding of the principles of adult learning along with experience teaching adult learners and developing curriculum that conveys the current knowledge, skills, and attitudes that are aligned with best practices in the field.
  9. A demonstrated ability to work within a collaborative environment as evidenced through a strong network of contacts with other professionals, agencies, and employers.
  10. Computer literacy and a willingness to learn and utilize learning tools (such as Canvas) employed at the college to enhance student success.
