ABIO Migration Field Engineer

Position Overview: We are seeking a skilled and experienced Field Engineer to lead the ABIO Migration project covering 50 sites in Edmonton within a 100-kilometer range. The successful candidate will be responsible for managing the migration process efficiently, ensuring minimal disruption to site operations, and delivering high-quality results within the specified timeframe.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Project Planning and Coordination:

    • Develop a comprehensive project plan detailing site visit schedules, logistics, and resource allocation.
    • Coordinate with the customer to schedule site visits and arrange for the pickup of ABIO units from their warehouse.
    • Ensure adherence to the project timeline, with an average of 2-3 sites to be migrated per day.

  2. Pre-Migration Preparation:

    • Conduct site surveys to assess the current configuration, connectivity, and equipment status.
    • Backup site pre-configuration, snapshots, and alarms status to facilitate seamless migration.
    • Verify each site for any major issues or alarms that could impact the migration process.

  3. Migration Execution:

    • Perform ABIO migrations at 25 sites during daytime hours and 25 sites during the maintenance window (11:00 PM to 6:00 AM).
    • Lock ABIO version A.103/A.104 and replace them with ABIO.105 individually, ensuring proper installation and configuration.
    • Monitor the migration process closely and address any issues or alarms encountered during the upgrade.
    • Verify all ABIO units are successfully upgraded to version A.105 and ensure no new alarms exist post-migration.

  4. Post-Migration Tasks:

    • Capture post-backup, snapshots, and alarms to validate the integrity of data and system functionality.
    • Coordinate with Nokia to request return UPS labels for the old ABIO units and arrange for their return.

  5. Communication and Reporting:

    • Maintain regular communication with the project team, customer stakeholders, and support personnel to provide updates on progress and address any concerns.
    • Prepare detailed reports documenting the migration activities, including any issues encountered and their resolution.

Qualifications and Skills:

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Information Technology, or related field.
  • Proven experience in network infrastructure deployment and configuration, with specific experience in ABIO migration preferred.
  • Strong troubleshooting skills and the ability to identify and resolve technical issues effectively.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work collaboratively in a team environment.
  • Proficiency in utilizing relevant tools and software for network configuration and monitoring.
  • Flexibility to work during daytime hours and the maintenance window as required by the project schedule.
