The Position

The Quality Coordinator role focuses on quality management system activities while engaging in the improvement and design of manufacturing processes and equipment. Under the direction of the Quality Manager, the Quality Coordinator works closely with all departments as a technical support and resource for the various functions of our business. The Quality Coordinator supports and promotes the organizations quality management system by creating quality focused initiatives through the development, improvement and refinement of practices, processes and equipment.

Primary Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • Coordinates quality assurance initiatives and activities in alignment with ISO, regulatory and customer requirements
  • Contributes to new and existing product/process development through cross functional team activities
  • Manages and maintains quality management system documentation through collaborative creation/editing, distribution and control
  • Manages and performs calibrations/verifications of measurement/verification equipment
  • Collects, compiles and analyzes data to monitor key performance indicators to aid in product or process improvement and vendor management
  • Works closely with the production and maintenance teams to improve product quality through the development of processes, related tools, aids, equipment and systems
  • Supports continuous improvement initiatives through participation and/or initiation of focused improvement activities
  • Supports customer concerns through initiation and or overseeing of investigations and corrective actions
  • Initiates and/or coordinates preventative/corrective actions relating to products, processes and the quality management system
  • Trains, instructs and mentors employees on processes and requirements
  • Assists in the coordination of the internal audit program
  • Performs and prepares Production Part Approval Process (PPAP) documentation for new products
  • Works with vendors and commodity owners to assure materials and services meet requirements
  • Uses measurement tools in the course of their activities and tasks.

Qualifications required for this position:

  • Post-Secondary degree or diploma in Quality, Engineering, Manufacturing Technology or related discipline
  • Relevant experience or a combination of education and experience
  • Experience working in a manufacturing, warehousing or foundry environment
  • Good working knowledge of ISO9001 or other quality management system standards
  • Certification or experience in Internal Auditing of Quality Management Systems
  • Strong practical and mechanical aptitude
  • Knowledge or interest in manufacturing engineering
  • Knowledge/Experience in any ERP system
  • Exceptional data analysis skills
  • Strong organizational and project management skills
  • Knowledge of, or experience in using continuous improvement and problem solving methods
  • Proficient in MS Office applications together with an aptitude for learning new computer systems and programs
  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints, drawings, and specifications.
