Accountant Location : Toronto, ON - Hybrid Status: Full-time, Permanent Position Summary: Reporting to the Accounting Manager, the Accountant is responsible for supporting the financial reporting and month-end close process, ensuring accuracy and plays a key part in maintaining the integrity of financial reporting across the organization. Key Responsibilities: Assist in the preparation of month-end reconciliations and internal financial statements by leading balance sheet and income statement reconciliations. Amortize and reconcile organizational prepaids. Perform month-end revenue cut-off analysis and prepare journal entries as required. Work closely with Accounts Payable on AP-related tasks and categorizing prepayments at month-end between prepaid expenses and deposits on fixed assets; perform reclass entries as needed. Process employee expenses and ensure accurate coding and compliance with company policies. Record payroll journal entries and payroll accruals; analyze payroll expense accounts for reasonableness. Support the review of back transactions to ensure completeness and accuracy of financial records. Perform analytical procedures on foreign currency revaluation at month-end to ensure reasonableness, accuracy, and completeness of system-driven revaluations. Assist in audit and compliance activities including financial audits, internal control reviews, and tax filings. Support ad hoc financial analysis and special projects as required. Skills & Qualifications: Post-secondary education in Accounting, Finance, or a related field; working toward a CPA designation is an asset. 2–4 years of accounting experience Strong understanding of accounting principles and financial reporting under IFRS. Familiarity with payroll journals, expense processing, and back transaction reconciliation considered an asset. Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to recommend appropriate accounting treatments. High attention to detail and accuracy, with strong organizational and time management abilities. Proficient in the Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Excel (advanced level preferred). Collaborative team player with strong communication and interpersonal skills. Demonstrated initiative and willingness to learn in a dynamic environment.
