Qualifications, Skills, Experience and Personal Attributes:

Designated CPA

Minimum 3-5 years post-designation experience

Minimum 3-5 years experience with public company audit and assurance work

In-depth knowledge of relevant Canadian and US Auditing Standards and IFRS. Knowledge of US GAAP is considered an asset.

Advanced understanding of controls and risk management practices, including SOX.

Proficient in accounting systems and Microsoft Office, particularly Microsoft Excel.

A detail-oriented mindset with a logical and process-driven approach to compliance and risk management.

Excellent organisational and administration skills, with the ability to prioritise and manage competing deadlines.

Collaborative and respectful approach to audit quality and compliance, as well as the ability to establish positive rapport with internal stakeholders.

Proven leadership and management skills with the ability to coach and mentor team members effectively

Ability to think strategically and contribute to long-term planning for the firm’s quality management system

Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to assess complex situations and develop practical solutions

Proven project management skills, including the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously and deliver results on time and within budget

Responsibilities:

Lead the development, maintenance, and implementation of policies, procedures, projects, and other initiatives to support Manning Elliott’s strategic objectives and uphold quality standards.

Oversee and develop existing quality and compliance projects, ensuring they align with Firm objectives.

Maintain and update the Firm’s compliance register, coordinating with internal teams to ensure completion of compliance activities in accordance with Firm policies.

Monitor and evaluate the effectiveness of the Firm’s quality controls, identifying areas for improvement and recommending corrective actions.

Produce concise and comprehensive reports for review by the QRC Senior Manager and Partner.

Utilize technical knowledge and research skills to assess Firm-wide processes and controls and contribute to the development of effective quality systems.

Actively support and participate in Firm-wide initiatives focusing on enhancing internal processes and controls.

Provide strong coaching and mentoring to Pubco accountants, seniors, and administrative assistants.

Collaborate with Pubco and other Firm members to ensure effective communication and dissemination of key information related to quality, risk, and compliance.

Contribute to strategic planning and decision-making processes to elevate Firm quality and compliance standards.

Conduct regular risk assessments to identify potential areas of vulnerability and implement strategies to mitigate risks.

Promote a culture of continuous improvement, encouraging feedback and implementing changes to enhance the Firm’s quality management system.

Develop and deliver training programs to enhance the quality and compliance skills of Firm members.

Salary Range:

The salary range for this position is $105,000 to $128,000. Individual salaries within this range will be dependent upon skills, experience, and qualifications.
