As a Wheelchair/Rehabilitation Technician at Vancouver Coastal Health you will:
- Set up, produce and adapt assistive devices, wheelchairs and seating systems to enable clients to achieve and maintain maximum potential for independence, under the general supervision of an Occupational Therapist.
- Instruct staff, residents, family members and volunteers on the proper functioning of wheelchair and assistive device equipment, and report relevant observations of resident’s progress to the Occupational Therapist.
- Perform maintenance duties on wheelchairs and assistive technology devices as required.
- Maintain an inventory of supplies, equipment, tools, wheelchairs, specialized mattresses, and seating components and arranges for maintenance and/or repair of equipment as necessary.
- Utilize various computer programs to facilitate ordering equipment, record keeping and communication.
- Carry out an intervention plan related to the provision of wheeled mobility and seating.
Education & Experience
- Grade 10, plus four (4) years’ recent, related experience or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience.
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
- Ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing.
- Ability to deal with others effectively.
- Physical ability to carry out the duties of the position.
- Ability to organize the work
- Ability to operate related equipment.
