Job Description

AECOM's Environment team in Calgary is looking for a Site Supervisor

to lead remedial construction programs such as environmental drilling investigations and remediation such as excavation and soil handling. The successful candidate will be working within a team of other technicians and junior engineers under the supervision of professional engineers and geologists. The position will involve assisting in all aspects of environmental projects with a focus on field work including subcontractor coordination. This is a full-time role.

Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  1. Excavation – directing subcontractors, analyzing changes in conditions, water management, shoring, communication with project management, critical thinking and problem solving, documenting adherence to standard field procedures.
  2. Groundwater Monitoring – purging and sample collection from monitoring wells
  3. Drilling – environmental drilling, ground disturbance procedures, soil description and monitoring well installation
  4. Soil sampling – field screening, soil sample collection procedures
  5. Field notes – taking organized and detailed field notes, recording observations
  6. Safety – leading and participating in field meetings, oversight of subcontractors, contribute to and following safe work practices, developing/following/implementing safety plans on a day-to-day basis, recognizing hazards, confidence in exercising stop work authority.

Qualifications

Minimum Requirements:

  1. High School or equivalent relevant technical education.
  2. 6+ years of experience in Environmental Remediation or Drilling.
  3. Valid driver's license.

Preferred Qualifications:

  1. Diploma in Environmental Technology/Geological Technology or equivalent technical training.
  2. Strong teamwork, able to listen to requirements and work well with others.
  3. Excellent attention to detail and a thorough approach to work.
  4. Strong communication skills.
  5. Critical thinking and problem solving.
  6. Possess good writing skills.
  7. Ability to learn new tasks.
  8. Flexible and hardworking.
  9. Willing to travel within the province/country for work.
