SUMMARY

We are seeking a Community Engagement Project Coordinator to lead and facilitate initiatives that build relationships and promote Kanachihih treatment centers at the First Nation communities. As a coordinator, you will collaborate closely with First Nation communities, organizations, and stakeholders to create and implement sustainable development projects that address the unique needs and aspirations of the treatment centers. In addition, the coordinator position would be responsible for identifying upcoming conferences, workshops, and engagement sessions happening in the communities and coordinating travel for our outreach and engagement team. The community engagement project coordinator would also develop unique staff training opportunities that can be implemented in between treatment cohorts. In this important role, the community engagement project coordinator would be responsible for keeping our current services and contact information updated on our websites. This role will also be vital in keeping our program documentation up to date and consistent on Sharepoint.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  1. Lead the planning and coordination of the outreach and engagement workers in regards to community visits for promoting our centers and services.
  2. Facilitate prevention and intervention programming in First Nation communities that address addictions and mental health issues.
  3. Actively update our websites and other social media platforms with current information on our centers and services ensuring accuracy and consistency.
  4. Develop and implement promotional strategies to increase awareness and access to our centers and services.
  5. Review and organize our SharePoint folders to ensure consistent and correct treatment center documentation is being utilized at all three centers.
  6. Collaboratively work alongside our training and development coordinator to implement training opportunities in-between cohorts to further enhance the skills of our treatment center staff.
  7. Liaise with related projects, programs, and funders as needed to ensure linkages and project supports.
  8. Participate in and/or report to a variety of meetings, committees, Boards, and/or other related groups to establish and maintain effective working relationships and support systems.
  9. Perform other related duties as required.

QUALIFICATIONS

A university degree in Social Work is preferred; however, a related field or a college diploma with five years of experience will be taken into consideration.

SKILLS

  • Demonstrated ability in proposal development and negotiations.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills, computer skills, conceptual and leadership skills, ability to work with groups in strategic planning, and problem solving.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills to develop and maintain effective and appropriate working relationships with individuals, co-workers, First Nation leadership, and representatives of other agencies.
  • Excellent analytical and organizational skills.
  • Ability to consistently demonstrate sound ethics and judgment.
  • Ability to maintain the confidentiality of information and professional boundaries.
  • Initiative and ability to complete tasks with minimum guidance and supervision, and ability to manage competing demands in a team setting.
  • Effective communication and planning skills.
  • Fluency in a NAN dialect (Cree, Ojibway or Oji-Cree) preferred.

This position is supervised and is accountable to the director of treatment services.
