The Opportunity

Portland Tractor is looking for an experienced Senior Accountant to join our team in Langley, BC. As the Senior Accountant, you will be responsible for supervising accounting employees and ensuring the completion of all internal and external financial reporting for the organization.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities

As the Senior Accountant your key responsibilities will include:

  • Preparation and analysis of monthly income statements and balance sheets for multiple entities
  • Supervise and train articling students, accountants, and administrators
  • Prepare monthly and daily KPI reports
  • Preparation of quarterly and year-end working papers
  • Coordinate and resolve issues with the ERP
  • Organize, secure, and maintain all files, records, cash, and cash equivalents in accordance with policies and procedures. Record, store, access, and/or analyze computerized financial information.
  • Classify, code, and summarize numerical and financial data to compile and keep financial records using journals, ledgers, and/or computers
  • Prepare, review, and improve internal processes and procedures
  • Prepare account reconciliations and month-end
  • Oversee accounts receivable and credit management
  • Oversee accounts payable data entry and troubleshoot issues
  • Manage cheque, ACH, and wire transfer preparation
  • Prepare provincial and state tax filings
Required Skills & Qualifications

The ideal candidate will possess the following skills, knowledge, and competencies:
  • Post-secondary education in accounting or a related filed
  • CA, CGA, CMA or CPA designation, or working towards it
  • 3-5 years of experience in a fast-paced office environment
  • Superior Microsoft Office skills with advanced experience using MS Excel, Word, and Outlook
  • Experience with SAGE 100 will be considered an asset
  • Must be organized and extremely detail oriented
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Strong interpersonal skills
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities in parallel, and a high volume of transactions
  • Proven ability to work independently in a dynamic work environment

The base pay range for this role is: $80,000 to $100,000 per year depending on experience.
