Job Title: Soft Services Lead

Location: Kitimat

There’s never been a better time to be working with LNG Canada.

Why? We are Canada’s first liquified natural gas (LNG) export facility, underpinned by safety, continuous improvement, quality execution and ethics and compliance. Our facility will provide the world with lower carbon, made-in B.C. LNG.

This is your opportunity to be part of history, in an environment that will challenge you to apply all your skills, and where you can learn with a diverse team of highly experienced industry professionals and mentors.

With gratitude and respect LNG Canada acknowledges our facility and will be operated in the traditional territory of the Haisla Nation. We also gratefully acknowledge the First Nations in our project area and along our shipping route.

LNG Canada maintains a healthy, respectful, and safe environment for all our employees, contractors, partners, and communities. Protecting our people, community and our operations is our top priority. We're proud to be the catalyst for a thriving new energy sector, which sets the benchmark for economically, environmentally, and socially responsible LNG production.

About the Role

  • Develop strong working relationships with your team and stakeholders to boost cooperation and a One Team approach.
  • Use your ability to utilize flexible thinking with well-developed problem-solving skills.
  • Courage to hold strong to views when challenged or challenging others.

You will use your expertise to:

Cafeteria Facility Management

  • Develop and implement facility management strategies to ensure the smooth operation and maintenance of the facilities.
  • Collaborate with Facility Supervisor to ensure repairs on the systems, equipment and infrastructure associated with the Cafeteria are carried out at the LNG Canada site.
  • Coordinate with external vendors and contractors for maintenance and repairs to the Cafeteria, ensuring cost-effective and timely service delivery.
  • Conduct regular inspections to identify and address any potential safety hazards or maintenance issues.
  • Manage and maintain inventory of facility supplies and equipment.

Food Services Management:

  • Work with Contract and Procurement team to develop food services contract for site.
  • Ensure contractor compliance with health and safety regulations and guidelines in food handling and service.
  • Monitor customer satisfaction and address any concerns or feedback related to food services.

Budgeting and Reporting:

  • Prepare and manage budgets for food services, ensuring cost control and efficiency.
  • Monitor expenses and analyze financial data to identify areas for cost savings and process improvements.
  • Generate regular reports on food service performance and budget utilization.

Stakeholder Management:

  • Collaborate with internal departments, such as HR and Finance, to ensure seamless coordination and support for food service needs.
  • Build and maintain relationships with external vendors and suppliers to ensure the availability of quality products and services.
  • Address and resolve any food service-related issues raised by employees, guests, or other stakeholders.

To be successful, you will have:

  • Post-secondary degree/diploma in Hospitality Management, Commercial Food Service or a related field; equivalent years of experience will be considered.
  • 8 years of proven food service management experience.
  • Facility management experience would be considered an asset.
  • Contract management experience is essential.
  • Experience managing contractor food service professionals.
  • Strong knowledge of building systems, maintenance, and safety regulations that include food safety.
  • Understanding of food service operations, including menu planning, food preparation, and service.
  • Excellent organizational and time management skills.
  • Strong leadership and interpersonal abilities.

  • Exceptional problem-solving and decision-making skills.
  • Proficient in using computer software and systems for facility and food service management.
  • Vacation coverage for Facility Supervisor when required.

This role requires that you:

  • Live in the beautiful District of Stikine (Kitimat/Terrace). For applicants located outside of the region, you are encouraged to explore what Kitimat has to offer in terms of lifestyle including schooling, local amenities, outdoor adventure, and housing, to ensure Kitimat is where you would like to call your new home.
  • Are willing to comply with LNGC’s drug-free and harassment-free work environment and comply with all safety policies and procedures.
  • Undergo a pre-placement medical assessment of your fitness for duty, and Pre-Site Access testing for alcohol and specified drugs.

We Offer:
