Position: Hematologist and/or Medical Oncologist
About 2 months ago, from Provincial Health Services Authority
BC Cancer – Vancouver is the largest treatment facility within BC Cancer and works in close collaboration with the BC Cancer Research Institute (BCCRI) and Vancouver General Hospital (VGH), both of which are in close proximity. Our department has a current staff of 32 Medical Oncologists.
The department has a longstanding reputation for clinical excellence and academia. Vancouver Cancer Centre is a full-service cancer centre with strong radiation oncology, surgical oncology, diagnostic imaging, pathology, oral oncology, supportive care, functional imaging services, an inpatient service, and clinical trials unit.
As a Hematologist and/or Medical Oncologist, you will use your experience and qualifications to provide quality cancer care to our patients. Clinical experience in the management of lymphoid malignancies and plasma cell disorders is required, and preference will be given to individuals with additional (1+) years of research training/clinical fellowship beyond hematology/medical oncology residency training requirements. The successful candidate will join the Lymphoma and Myeloma Tumour Group and will be required to treat patients with lymphoid malignancies and plasma cell disorders.
The Lymphoma and Myeloma Tumour Group has a strong dedication to clinical and translational research, and candidates with experience and interest in clinical research would be preferred.
The candidate will support the activities of the Vancouver Medical Oncology Program and the UBC Medical Oncology Training Program, including the teaching of postgraduate trainees and undergraduate medical students.
Please consider applying if you have obtained or are working towards Fellowship standing in the Royal College of Physicians & Surgeons of Canada in Internal Medicine, along with a certificate of Special Competence in Hematology and/or Medical Oncology. You must also be eligible for licensing with the College of Physicians & Surgeons of British Columbia and meet the requirements of credentialing by the Professional Advisory Committee of BC Cancer. In addition, you should be eligible for a clinical appointment in the Division of Medical Oncology in the Department of Medicine at the University of British Columbia.
You must be eligible for a valid license to practice medicine in Canada to apply.
To apply, please send a letter expressing your interest along with your curriculum vitae to:
Dr. Christian Kollmannsberger
Department Head, Medical Oncology
Applications will be reviewed immediately and the positions will remain open until filled.

PHSA embodies values that reflect a commitment to excellence. These include: Respect people, Cultivate partnerships, Serve with purpose.
PHSA and BC Cancer are committed to employment equity and diversity and hires on the basis of merit. We welcome applications from all qualified individuals, including visible minority group members, women, Aboriginal persons, persons with disabilities, persons of any sexual orientation or gender identity. Citizens and permanent residents of Canada will be given priority.
We recognize that our ability to provide the best care for our diverse patient populations relies on a rich diversity of skills, knowledge, background, and experience, and value a safe, inclusive, and welcoming environment.
Reconciliation is an ongoing process and a shared responsibility for all of us. The BC Government’s unanimous passage of the Declaration on the Rights of Indigenous Peoples Act was a significant step forward in this journey—one that all health authorities are expected to support as we work in cooperation with Indigenous Peoples to establish a clear and sustainable path to lasting reconciliation. True reconciliation will take time and ongoing commitment to work with Indigenous Peoples as they move toward self-determination.
Guiding these efforts, Crown agencies must remain focused on creating opportunities that implement the Truth and Reconciliation Commission Mandate.
