Job Description: The Used Car Manager is a pivotal role responsible for overseeing all aspects of our used vehicle operations, from appraisals and purchasing to reconditioning, merchandising, and sales. The successful candidate will have a proven track record of driving profitability while maintaining high levels of customer satisfaction.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Leadership & Team Development:

    • Recruit, train, mentor, and manage the used vehicle sales team to achieve and surpass sales targets.

    • Lead daily and weekly sales and training meetings to ensure the team is well-equipped with product knowledge and sales strategies.

    • Set clear performance standards and provide ongoing coaching and support to help the team reach their goals.

  • Sales & Profitability:

    • Develop and execute sales strategies to meet monthly and annual sales and gross profit objectives.

    • Oversee all aspects of used vehicle inventory, including appraisals, purchasing, reconditioning, pricing, and merchandising, to maximize profitability.

    • Analyze market trends and customer preferences to ensure inventory aligns with demand.

  • Customer Engagement & Satisfaction:

    • Ensure every customer receives exceptional service from the start of the sales process through to completion.

    • Implement a robust follow-up system to drive customer retention and satisfaction.

    • Address customer concerns promptly and effectively, escalating issues as necessary to maintain high levels of satisfaction.

  • Operational Excellence:

    • Prepare and manage the department's annual budget, including sales forecasts and expense control.

    • Ensure compliance with all relevant regulations concerning used vehicle sales.

    • Oversee the reconditioning process, ensuring all vehicles meet Finch Chev’s high standards before going on sale.

    • Coordinate with the New Vehicle Sales Manager to manage trade-ins and inventory needs.

  • Marketing & Merchandising:

    • Collaborate on the creation and execution of advertising campaigns and promotions to drive used vehicle sales.

    • Ensure the used vehicle lot is effectively merchandised to maximize appeal and sales potential.

    • Stay informed on auction activity and trends, regularly attending auctions to source high-quality inventory.

Qualifications:

  • Proven experience in used vehicle management with a strong track record of achieving sales and profitability goals.

  • Exceptional leadership and team development skills with the ability to inspire and motivate.

  • Strong understanding of market trends, inventory management, and vehicle reconditioning processes.

  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with a customer-centric approach.

  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment and make informed decisions quickly.

  • High school diploma or equivalent; post-secondary education in a related field is a plus.

  • Valid driver’s license with a clean driving record.
