Webuild has won a new contract to deliver the Pape Tunnel and Underground Stations section of the Ontario Line (Pape North Connect) and we are currently seeking an Architectural Manager .

This position is a full-time 100% onsite position at our downtown office.

Reporting to the Technical Director

Position Summary: We are seeking an experienced Architectural Manager with a strong background in transit systems to lead and oversee the architectural aspects of large-scale transit infrastructure projects. The ideal candidate will have a minimum of 5 years of management experience and be responsible for guiding architectural design processes, ensuring compliance with project requirements, and collaborating with various stakeholders to achieve successful project delivery.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Architectural Design Management:
  • Lead and manage the external architectural design efforts for transit system projects, ensuring alignment with project goals, budgets, and timelines.
  • Oversee the development of architectural plans, specifications, and construction documents, ensuring compliance with industry standards, safety regulations, and client requirements.
  • Coordinate with engineering teams, contractors, and other project stakeholders to integrate architectural design with overall project objectives.
  • Team Leadership and Development:
  • Manage and mentor a team of architects and designers, providing guidance, support, and professional development opportunities.
  • Allocate resources effectively to ensure that project milestones are met while maintaining high standards of quality and efficiency.
  • Project Coordination and Collaboration:
  • Collaborate with project managers, engineers, and other discipline leads to ensure cohesive and coordinated project delivery.
  • Act as the primary point of contact for architectural matters, liaising with clients, consultants, and government authorities to address concerns and secure necessary approvals.
  • Quality Assurance and Compliance:
  • Ensure that all architectural work adheres to applicable codes, standards, and best practices, with a focus on safety, sustainability, and accessibility.
  • Conduct regular reviews and audits of architectural deliverables to maintain consistency, accuracy, and compliance with project specifications.
  • Stakeholder Engagement:
  • Engage with clients and key stakeholders to understand their vision, requirements, and expectations, translating these into actionable architectural solutions.
  • Participate in client presentations, meetings, and site visits to communicate design concepts, progress, and any necessary adjustments.
  • Innovation and Continuous Improvement:
  • Promote innovative design solutions and the use of cutting-edge technologies to enhance the functionality and aesthetics of transit systems.
  • Continuously evaluate and improve architectural processes and workflows to increase efficiency and project success.

Education and Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Architecture or a related field.
  • Licensed Architect (RA or equivalent) preferred.

Experience:

  • Minimum of 5 years of management experience in architectural design, with a focus on transit systems or similar large-scale infrastructure projects.
  • Proven experience in leading architectural teams and managing multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Strong understanding of transit system design, including stations, terminals, and related infrastructure.

Skills and Competencies:

  • Excellent leadership, organizational, and time management skills.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to effectively collaborate with diverse teams and stakeholders.
  • Proficiency in architectural design software (e.g., AutoCAD, Revit) and project management tools.
  • Ability to manage complex projects within tight deadlines and budgets while maintaining a high standard of quality.
